i did not create this thread to get such feedback. yes, you can say whatever you want on a public message board...but i don't know. you can't just accept anything i write? or ignore it if you don't agree? can you please just stop with all of your comments? that's all i ask. i wanted this thread to just be about lennon. you're being a little selfish with your commentary. please, just stop? i don't know what else to do or say to you. i'm at my witts end...you'll probably just make fun of this post too...

Look, you're the one who suggested that if a person cares about love or peace that they should see Lennon. And that just seemed an absolutely ridiculous statement, seeming to suggest as it does that to not see Lennon signals that perhaps a person doesn't care about peace or love.
Then, of course, you publish those quotes and apparently it doesn't even register with you how dumb they are.
I'm just trying to point out that such examples could actually keep people from seeing the show, you know, people who think critically. Lennon himself modeled his entire post-Beatles career on being a voice of dissent. Yet that's what you're looking to keep out of your thread.
Not to quote back the person whom I suspect you have barely a rudimentary understanding of, but "all I want is the truth, just gimme some truth."

Get thee to Lennon, post haste!
I loved the show and hope to see it again soon.
YAY Harpo!! Way to show Lennon support!
Better see it sooner rather than later!

I love Lennon too Cathy, going again this week! I think you should put that quote back in, who cares what the naysayers think anyway? They haven't seen Lennon and won't see it so screw them, their biased opinion doesn't count.

Definitely put that quote back in!

Not only that showbiz, but I am well known to be something of a fan of both peace and also love.

I'm assuming everyone cares about peace, so forget about that. Go see LENNON for some amazing performances by and amazing cast!

What I really wish is that the cast would put out a book about their feelings and thoughts and philosophies and whatnot.
i agree MissNY! Whatever your views, go see Lennon to support the amazingly talented cast! They give an outstanding performance every night!

Namo, I find it hard to believe anyone would have a hard time recognizing the relevance of "Lennon" as highlighted in the following quotes:
"Give peace a chance. That's why everybody stands up at the end because it so resonates today, give me some truth."
Mandy Gonzalez
"Most of the music we sing, I'm singing, and I'm thinking, this is what's happening right now. I honestly can't pick a song in the show that is not relevant to what is happening in 2005 right now."
Marcy Harriell
For those who weren't there, and/or have selective or defective memories, a few decades ago this nation was led into a war based on a lie -- The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. 55,000 or so American troops died. Hundreds of thousands were wounded. An estimated two to three MILLION Vietnamese civilians were killed.
In 2003 this nation was led into another war based on a lie -- WMD. 1,897 American troops dead SO FAR. More than 20,000 American troops maimed for life SO FAR. An estimated 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead SO FAR. Over $200 BILLION wasted SO FAR. But all of the sacrifice is hidden in late night flights into Dover AFB and in VA hospitals around America where people are forced to learn how to eat without hands or arms and how to walk without feet or legs.
And all for a lie.
The quotes should need no explanation unless you are among those Americans who are incapable of determining when they've been lied to. Or one of those Americans who would rather give war a chance. Since there is no draft this time around, and therefore America's youth aren't being forced to make any sacrifice by joining the carnage in Iraq, I can understand the complacency -- but I can't understand the ignorance.
Those who ignore history are forced to repeat it.
John Lennon's music is as relevant today as it was during Vietnam when the anti-war movement sang "Give Peace a Chance." If you still need it explained to you there really is no hope for you. Maybe that's the problem. A bunch of right wing chickenhawks criticizing peace from behind their keyboards are the perfect complement for a bunch of right wing chickenhawks earning billions of dollars from war profiteering while blood flows like water in Iraq. Pick up a newspaper and read all about it. But don't simply embrace ingorance.
If Bush's fiasco in Iraq remains as intractable as it has been for the past two years and six months, and if the Bush administration is forced to re-institute the draft instead of cycling the same few troops into Iraq for their third, fourth, fifth, and sixth tours, I guarantee that you'll ALL be singing "Give Peace a Chance".
Even you, Namo.
Maybe then you'll understand the relevance.

You're very welcome, Cathy.
I'm sure John Lennon would love nothing more than to help end another war, and I'm sure he would find it particularly enjoyable if his message could accomplish that goal once again, even from the grave.
Come on, people, war is NOT the answer.
Love is the answer and you know that for sure
Love is a flower, you got to let it, you got to let it grow

Here's more John philosophies:
"Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans" - John Lennon (Beautiful Boy)
"Living is easy with your eyes closed..." - John Lennon
"Love is the flower you've got to let it grow." - John Lennon
"Love is the answer and you know that for sure". - John Lennon
"We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep on watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it." - John Lennon
"We realized there's something wrong here, if everybody was upset by the fact that two people were naked." - John Lennon
"Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first - rock and roll or Christianity." - John Lennon
"Possession isn't nine-tenths of the law its nine-tenths of the problem." - John Lennon
"If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace." - John Lennon
"Everything positive is nice, I like it. Just the effect it had on people was good, I think." - John Lennon
"People want peace. And you've got do sell it and sell it and sell it. So we do the bed-ins and they say, 'What? They're in bed? What's this?' And all we're doing really is donating our holiday. We get tired and it's...more convenient for us to stay in one spot than go around doing press conferences." - John Lennon
"Well, crying for it wasn't enough. The thing the sixties did was show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn't the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility." - John Lennon
"We've been on our peace gig, as we call it, for a year solid. And people say, 'Do you think it's having any effect?' I can't answer that. It's like asking me in the Cavern, 'Are you gonna make it?' In the back of my mind I thought, I'm gonna make it, but I couldn't lay it on the line. And I think that peace is more tangible than Beatles." - John Lennon

I know all about John Lennon's philosophy. I was there at the time.
It's the cast I would particularly like to hear more from. ESPECIALLY Julie Danao, she's, like, my new guru and stuff.
