It looks to me that The Lion King is only about 70 or so performances from overtaking Cats as the third longest-running Broadway show in history. This'll probably happen mid-November or so? Pretty cool.

Don't jump the gun on this one. I heard Lion King might be closing next week. Ticket sales have been dreadful 
In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear it. I know many on this board don't like the show, but I think it's fantastic, and easily the best of the long-runners.

If anyone cares, Wicked also only about $55 million (not including this week) from grossing $1 Billion. By my calculations based on last year's grosses they should hit it around Tony announcements.

I love all these list-changing moments! Sometimes it comes all at once and then we have to wait awhile for more changes to happen.

That is very cool, show was innovative when it came out and glad it will be recognized as one of the top shows of all time. My only beef about top running shows is "Chicago" (revival) being number 2. Their "stunt" casting to keep the show running just bothered me.

I typically dislike stunt casting for original productions, but I think a long-running show like Chicago (which also isn't exactly a show with tremendous emotional complexity) is the perfect vehicle for stunt/star casting on Broadway.

"Chicago" lost all credibility to me when they hired Christie Brinkley.
