Whoa! Deidre coming back.
That actually might be enough to get me back to see this. She is so fantastic.

I really wana see this again to see Deidre as Velma!
Didn't Bonnie just leave Chicago and now she is back!?
TOm Hewitt..just left like July 10th-ish I believe! Missed him last time(s) around .. maybe I will go back since it seems Diedre is worth it as well.
Even though I just saw the show last Wed., with Deidre back as Velma I will definitly be seeing this again!! Anyone know how long Deidre will be back?? I probably won't be able to see it until the end of Sept.
She'll still be there by the end of September.
Bonnie did a week in May, I believe. I saw her here and in London the year before - she's by far one of my favorite Roxies. Seeing Bonnie is when I saw Tom for the first time, and he was just fantastic. And Deidre has always been a favorite Velma of mine, plus she's an MVP for having to play opposite Melanie Griffith.
To me, it's CHICAGO ALL STARS!

Bonnie did a week long run.
I LOVE Deidre. I am definitely going.
i was so happy to hear this and it made me so excited that theres actually a good cast lined up rather than random "stars" being cast
its been a while that this show got me excited for anything
i will definitly be there for this!
Now, this is a good case of recycling :)
Langford is an ole pro and I'm thrilled she's back for an extended stay as Roxie. One of the best-danced Velmas, Goodwin is just effortless in the role.
Hewitt is dashing and just fine as Billy. Lewis-Evans' is a snooze in the book scenes but, vocally fun.
I'm most excited about the pairing of Langford/Goodwin and will be back to the Ambassador sooner than I expected.
Saw the show last night simply to see these veterans in the show. Having this been this 5th time seeing it I can honestly say this cast was hands down the best. Deidre Goodwin finally brought life and energy to Velma. All the past Velma's I've seen lacked passion, Deidre simply blew everyone else away.
Bonnie Langford was a good Roxie, I've never seen a bad Roxie, but she wasn't my favorite. And it was nice to finally see someone that good sing the part of Billy Flynn(Tom Hewitt). All my past Billy's have been stunt casted or a bad understudy. Bokhour is still the best Amos, he should be given a nice contract extension because of it. And Lewis-Evans makes a nice Mama, very well sung and great energy. And the ensemble is still great with tons of energy.
Here's my rankings on all of the leads:
VELMAS
1. Deidre Goodwin
2. Donna Marie Asbury(u/s)
3. Amra-Faye Wright
4. Terra C. MacLeod
5. Brenda Braxton
ROXIES
1. Charlotte d'Amboise
2. Bianca Marraquin
3. Bebe Neuwirth
4. Bonnie Langford
5. Tracy Shayne
BILLYS
1. Tom Hewiit
2. Brent Barrett
3. Bernard Dotson(u/s 2x)
5. Jerry Springer
"...I've never seen a bad Roxie...."
Clearly you never saw Nancy Hess in the role. Probably one of the worst performances I have seen on Broadway...ever!

I hear she was terrible. However, I have seen Brenda & Terra as Velma, and they were painful. Hopefully both never comes back.
Saw the show on 9/17...BEST. CAST. EVER!!!
Donna Marie as Velma.
Bonnie as Roxie.
Kecia as Mamma.
Tom as Billy.
R. as Mary Sunshine.
Sold out house (so it looked) and just the best voices ever! The crowd was sooooo into it!!
Nancy Hess made for a much better Velma than Roxie but, was solid enough to have stood by for both roles. And Terra MacLeod is out on the road with the show; she's still one of the stronger Velmas I've seen.
And I'll echo that the current cast is indeed excellent. Langford and Goodwin make everything seem effortless. Even with Hewitt leaving at the end of the week, the role is in darn near perfect hands with Brent Barrett.
The only disappointment is Kecia Lewis Evans; fine vocals, but weak in the book scenes.
