Ugh. Again?
Laura Benanti is an AMAZING performer. Truly transcendent.
But she needs to show up.
And she doesn't.
---------------------------
Really pneumonia isn't something that can kill you by pushing it, I think 8 shows a week w/ it would probablly kill her.
Jessica Rush was perfectly capable. I thought she did a very good job. She has a very nice, sweet voice. I was a little worried at first during Act 1, but when Act 2 came, she was a natural. I would not have guessed that she was an understudy. The only thing though is her stage presence.. Something that I assume Laura Benanti has quite a bit of.
At the end, all the actors on the stage were clapping for her. Ms. Lupone gave her a kiss on the cheek.
I'm going to have to see the show again to see Laura Benanti though.

i noticed both Patti & Boyd having coughs last night.
Jessica Rush did pretty well. it was her first time going on, which added another level of fear to her first strip.
she plays Louise a little sadder & more passive than Laura's take.
during the curtain call, Patti led a round of applause for her & gave her a smooch, it was very sweet.
TAKE CARE, LAURA!
we decent human beings love & support you!!!!
Get better soon, Laura
Walking pneumonia is NOT fun
And it's dangerously serious if not taken care of.

I had walking peaumonia last year as well and was also off work for two weeks. It wasn't pleasent.
Plus it completely ate all my sick leave up, which sucked as a month later I quit the job and it would've been nice to at least been paid out that sickleave.
Quick Question: IF by any chance... PATTI is out this Saturday... I can exchange my tix..or get a refund.... Is that right?
Not that I dont wanna see Leonora but I am bringing Chris for the sake of seeing Miss Patti!

Yes, if Patti is out, you can exchange or get a refund.
But, Patti will never be out, especially not before the Tonys.
Does Jessica scream like Laura does in the Dressing Room scene?
If anybody else here sees Jessica's performance, I'd love to hear reviews.

Saw Jessica this evening as Louise. Nothing overly good, or bad about the performance. Just fine, I'd say. The only time I really missed Laura was during Louise's confrontation in the dressing room scene. And no, she doesn't yell the way Benanti does.
Benanti and LuPone's confrontation scene is like no other. Truly amazing.

Has Benanti been in lately?
Yes...she was in all week...saw her Wednesday night and she was better than ever. Brilliant performances all around in this show.

John Altieri just DIED of pneumonia. It is nothing to fool around with. It is no joke. STAY home if you are sick. "The show must go on" thought process is ridiculous if you are truly sick.
Are either of you performers? Do you know what you are talking about? Is a show more important than one's health? I think not. If you don't have your health, you've got nothing!
Get well, Laura and take your time....
Pneumonia can take several weeks months to resolve, especially if someone is working as hard as Laura does. I wish her all the best for a speedy and complete recovery. I worry that she will never fully resolve the pneumonia by going back to work to soon.
I saw Jessica Rush and thought she was amazing. Granted, I never saw Benanti in the role, but Rush was wonderful. She was very expressive, playing Louise as very meek and scared, but just gorgeous throughout. The audience loved her too, even the women who was complaining when she saw the slip in her Playbill that Benanti was out.
Just so everyone is aware... Laura has recovered (except for a small cough that tends to linger whenever anyone has pneumonia), and missed a total of six shows because of it.
