I think there was some sort of online fan voting, but it didn't directly influence who stayed or went home on the show.

I'm just one of those people who doesn't do the "stage door" thing. I know that makes me the exception rather than the norm. I feel Broadway performers have better things to do between and after shows than to touch the lives of groupies whose lives won't be complete unless they've had a personal moment with a star. Now THAT is lame.

Thank you, and let the Albin bashing commence!

Thanks for posting your thoughts winston. If I had been there, I would have been curious to see her performance as well.
As for the show being nearly(?) sold out, there were probably a lot of VIPs in attendance. I'm sure many tickets went to them, which would help in getting the show full. But it's always nice when it is. I'm also not surprised Bailey didn't come out at the stagedoor. She probably had a lot of friends and family in attendance, and they probably chatted after the show in her dressing room before taking her out in celebration of her 1st night. After all, this is still all new to her. As she gets used to the show, performing, and then the fans, I'm sure she will be more than obliging. But give the girl a break. Let her enjoy it before pouncing on her.

I'm just completely guessing here, but could it be that since it was her first show there were a lot of friends and family backstage that wanted to spend time with her?

From the reviews I read from last night she did come out and greet the fans, so I'm sure there is a reason she didn't during the day. I would just give her the benefit of the doubt before condemning her.

Bailey definitely did come out the stagedoor last night - I have her autograph and pictures of her. It took over an hour, partially because of the torrential downpour we were all standing in and partially because she was doing a ton of interviews and photos backstage. But she came out!

I think she skipped coming out after the matinee...?

Performers tend not to come out of the stage door on the afternoon show and tend to rest up for the night. She will also have had all her friends, Family, Press, VIPs etc back stage which would have stopped her from coming out.

The girl should be given a break -- it was her first night, the biggest night of her career so far, and she was probably inundated with countless interviews, friends and family, etc., so she could not spend all of her time at the stage door. Also, in regards to her height, I remember reading how so many were saying that Kristin Chenowith would have been great in the role -- well she is not exactly Paul Bunyon height either. Besides, on television it looked as if Autumn was about the same height as Bailey. So, just give the girl a chance.

And let's completely ignore the fact that it was P.O.U.R.I.N.G!!

I think that the voting on MTV.com was more of a what people would like to see happen/ who would they like to see leave. It was more of an opinion poll rather then any sort of voting that would help decide who got kicked off or not.

Keep in mind that the reality show was taped four months ago and the winner was already decided before the first episode aired.

I was going to stage door like I usually do. However the downpour started literally just as the show was letting out. At first the guy at the stage door said that no one was comming out because of that so I left. However, I think that there were people who stayed regardless of what he was saying. Eventually they lucked out because she did come out from what I hear. It didn't matter for me because I had a train to catch and wouldn't have been able to wait the hour that it took for her to come out.

I was in the balcony in partial view. My seat was considered partial view because from where I was sitting the overhang blocked some of the view of the stage. But, it wasn't bad at all and it never bothered me once. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that all the VIPs were comped. But, even the balcony was sold out so that gave me the impression that the show sold well last night and might be a sign for things to come.

"Welcome to Broadway Bailey, only two shows in and already getting a bad stage door rep."

I'm sure she's quivering. Thank God most Broadway audience members are intelligent enough not to care whether or not a performer missed a stage-dooring opportunity or didn't give a last performance speech.

FosterChild,

I agree. It seems that no one is paying attention to the fact that I said that the guy a the stage door was at first not letting anyone stay because of the rain.

It was all because Bailey didn't care about her fans. That was why she didn't come out and sign autographs.

To answer someones question Bailey is 5'1". I'm surprised that she looked short next to Lindsay Nicole Chambers or Cara Massey. Those girls are tiny also. Bailey probably looks like a doll next to Kate Shindle though. She's kinda tall and was Miss America...LOL.

When(if) I ever meet her at SD I'm gonna look like a giant next to her...LOL.

When I met Autumn at SD she seemed a fair amount shorter than me and I'm 5'2. Someone said Bailey was even shorter than her so they must be pretty short. I know Bailey had a box to stand on in the graduation scene.

Here's a nice interview I missed with Bailey. She mentions how it is working with Richard Blake and Christian Borle specifically.

I think her accent has really lightened up.

DefyGravity- During Legally Blonde remix, I really noticed Kate looking down at Bailey because of the height difference! When I met her at the SD, I was especially surprised because I'm 5'7"!

I did notice the whole "Looking good by looking bad line" as well, but you wouldn't have noticed the flub unless you know the show. She did seem out of breath after What You Want and Positive, but was able to keep the song flowing.

Let me just say, I had really had huge expectations for Bailey, and she surpassed them by a landslide. She did fantastic for her opening night and can only imagine how much more she'll improve with time. I was so impressed, and I actually got chills several times during her performance. She had really big shoes to fill, and although she'll never be LBB, she did a remarkable job with the part. Oh, and I know people were worried about her being "carbon-copy" of LBB, and she did a fantastic job with molding the part into her own (she did still use some of her LBB mannerisms though). I especially loved how she made the gradual change of character through the show as well, as someone previously mentioned.

Let me just say how crazy the Palace was. After Lauren, Emma, Lindsey and Celina were spotted in the boxes, it got even crazier. They were all so incredibly sweet at the Stage door, and Emma made sure to ask everyone their names to personalize their playbills.

And for the whole thing about the stage door after the matinee, suck it up and deal with it. It sucks that you wanted to meet her and she didn't come out, but it was her opening day, and not everyone comes out between shows to begin with. To be completely honest, I waited in the DOWN POURING rain after the evening show, and if she hadn't come out, I really would have understood. She just made her Broadway debut (in a leading part, no less), her family was there, she was being flooded by the press, and I'm sure they had a party for her as well. She did end up coming out, though. She was so incredibly sweet to everyone, and was sure to sign everyone's playbill and talk to everyone.

All in all, Bailey was really great in the role and I look forward to see her progress even more with this part! Congratulations!! :)

Now I'm curious to see Cara Massey play Vivienne. She's short also so that line wouldn't fit to well...LOL.

Haha that's so true! I find it really funny when there are references in the show that are specific to a characters appearance, and the person is not even close to what's being described! Gotta love it!

And maybe I'm just weird, but I always pictured Elle as a small, petite girl, so I didn't have a hard time with Bailey's height.

I didn't want to start a new thread and get crucified -

I was trying to search on youtube to see if there were Audios of Bailey singing, and the first thing that came up was her audition for American Idol - was I the only one who didn't know she was on there?

Yeah I was searching too and saw that. Too bad you couldn't hear her singing.

So what are the chances of a LB bootleg floating around?
