DefyGravity- During Legally Blonde remix, I really noticed Kate looking down at Bailey because of the height difference! When I met her at the SD, I was especially surprised because I'm 5'7"!
I did notice the whole "Looking good by looking bad line" as well, but you wouldn't have noticed the flub unless you know the show. She did seem out of breath after What You Want and Positive, but was able to keep the song flowing.
Let me just say, I had really had huge expectations for Bailey, and she surpassed them by a landslide. She did fantastic for her opening night and can only imagine how much more she'll improve with time. I was so impressed, and I actually got chills several times during her performance. She had really big shoes to fill, and although she'll never be LBB, she did a remarkable job with the part. Oh, and I know people were worried about her being "carbon-copy" of LBB, and she did a fantastic job with molding the part into her own (she did still use some of her LBB mannerisms though). I especially loved how she made the gradual change of character through the show as well, as someone previously mentioned.
Let me just say how crazy the Palace was. After Lauren, Emma, Lindsey and Celina were spotted in the boxes, it got even crazier. They were all so incredibly sweet at the Stage door, and Emma made sure to ask everyone their names to personalize their playbills.
And for the whole thing about the stage door after the matinee, suck it up and deal with it. It sucks that you wanted to meet her and she didn't come out, but it was her opening day, and not everyone comes out between shows to begin with. To be completely honest, I waited in the DOWN POURING rain after the evening show, and if she hadn't come out, I really would have understood. She just made her Broadway debut (in a leading part, no less), her family was there, she was being flooded by the press, and I'm sure they had a party for her as well. She did end up coming out, though. She was so incredibly sweet to everyone, and was sure to sign everyone's playbill and talk to everyone.
All in all, Bailey was really great in the role and I look forward to see her progress even more with this part! Congratulations!! :)
