Ha! I can't wait till my girls and I see this show...
erinrebecca, don't know whether that was derogatory or heartfelt...but hey, it amuses me :-P
They were in the front of the balcony.
They were in the front of the balcony.
The front row of the Balcony is considered "obstructed view"? That's odd. I actually prefer to sit in the front row of the balcony than anywhere else in that theater. Have they decided on a location of the rush seats yet or is it still unknown? I would like to see this show through rush but I don't think being in there that early to get a ticket to a show that's 12 hours away is worth it. I'll take my chances that I'll enjoy the show and just purchase a ticket.

Rush seats are the first two rows of the orchestra.
I guess the lip of the balcony jutted out a little further than usual, but I wouldn't consider them obstructed either.
Speaking of rush, does anyone know if they are doing rush for opening night?
Is there a bar or something that cuts across the balcony front row's view of the stage? I remember there was something like that at Studio 54, when Cabaret was there, so they sold a handful of balcony seats for $30 or something. You just had to lean forward a bit so the bar wasn't in your sightline. It was a great deal.

As a headsup, according to the box office, there is no rush and no ticket sales for the public AT ALL for opening night.
IMpressive that they managed to fill 1700 seats with invited guests!
That's the way it used to be done, always. Opening night tickets being available for public sale is a fairly new phenomena.
When I went to see the show yesterday I got obstructed view and I didn't find it to be obstructed at all, you could see fine. There's a bar infront of you, if you want to lean on it if your in the front, like I was. But thats basically it. There was a school group near me yesterday and they had the whole balcony filled.
fyi if you're still looking for time info: got in the rush line this morning at 9:15am (Sunday- box office opens at noon) and there were about 20 people in line ahead- most were getting matinee tix (eta: including the very first group, which was either 10 or 12 people all getting one tix each).
and ps: loved the show, first time seeing it was tonight and I think it has totally passed both DRS and Hairspray as my fav movie musical.

I was the first person in line for rush at the first preview. I got there at 7:15am. The next person did not get there until 8:00am.
Some basics for rushing a show that is sure to turn into a fangirl phenomenon like this one:
1. Go on a weekday (not Friday).
2. Rush during previews! That is, if you want to get tickets without having to stay overnight outside the theatre. Once this show opens, it's going to become 10 times more difficult to get rush tickets, and the rush princesses are only going to get 10 times more bitchy.
I prefer to be called a rush queen. Princess doesn't do me justice :)
And I don't think previews/after opening really affects the rushing. I think it's more that it is getting closer to summer where this show's main demographic, aka high school girls, is out and has nothing to do but wake up early in the morning and rush.
Honestly, I was going to say rush QUEENS, but I didn't want anyone spinning my words and making me out to be a homophobe.
Do you think LB's rush would be worse than Spring Awakening?
Right now they're ABOUT the same, but SA is still a little worse. Yesterday I rushed LB and some friends of mine rushed SA and we arrived to each place at the same time. I was second in like, they were 6th and 7th. I only see rush getting worse for this show though.
What is weird is that ticketmaster has the day of opening night as you can but ix but when you get to the last step it says they are not selling them.
Ticketmaster is f*cked up like that.
What time does the box office start giving out tickets on weekdays?
It's 10 a.m., any day but sunday which is noon.

How has the rush been since opening? I'm thinking of going up next Sunday.
Are there 2 shows on Sundays?

"When I spoke to Kate Shindle she had heard people were getting there as early as 7:00 am."
Ha, the Jersey Boys fans laugh at them.
Who would get there at 7 AM for ANY show. I mean, I like cheap tickets as much as the next person, but why can't people get up at a reasonable hour to get tickets?
when does the box office open for matinees--i wanna rush the may 23rd matinee
10:00 Tuesday-Saturday
12:00 Sunday
But DEFINITELY get there way before that.
