Okay, as I stated in my review, Blonde has a built in fan base that is rather, um, shall we say.... psychotic in ways that only the rest of can imagine in the reallm of Broadway.. due to their casting choices among other things. hell, I know that a number of them lamented the closing High Fidelity because they would, and I quote, "have nothing to see til Legally Blonde gets here".
I have heard a range of numbers describing when people have shown up to wait for rush seats....
I am weighing options here. I would like to take my boyfriend to see the show. We have a student ID, so rush is an option. I have sat in the balcony at the Palace, and even though you can wave to the Space Station from there, the view in the first few rows isn't all that bad. Frankly, I just don't want to spend the forty some-odd dollars unless I need to for a ticket, so I am exploring breaking out the riot gear and pepper spray and taking a crack at rush. However, I REFUSE to sit in the middle of Times sq battling morning-bird tourists, all that neon and LED, and all those Bridesmaid unless I am guaranteed a pay-off annd won't have to plop down on a sidewalk long enough to have to pay rent..
So, how early HAVE the crazies been rising for Blonde-rush?
I rushed on Sunday April 8th and got there at around 9:30. I was 6th or so on line and it was about another 30 minutes til people showed up behind me (though by 11 or so the line was very long, past the McDonalds.) I didn't see any people that seemed crazy, I didn't even know these actors had a large fanbase (although I was a bit annoyed that one girl in front of me saved spots for about 7 of her friends who showed up after 11. I still got seats cause I wanted the evening and they all got matinee.)

Yeah.. see.. those are some of the ones I am talkinga bout. I would have reamed her a new backside and mad SURE she didn't get seats. Believe me, the box office would have gotten an EAR full.
I rushed on Saturday April 7th and got there about 8:50 AM. I was the 35th person in line or so. But, luckily everyone in front of me for the most part wanted tickets to the evening performance, when I was rushing for the matinee. If you are going to rush on a Saturday for the evening, get there early! I'd get there at like 8.
When I spoke to Kate Shindle she had heard people were getting there as early as 7:00 am.
I haven't experienced that. I rushed it on a Sunday and there were people in front of me (perhaps who had gotten there at 7?) but there were just 3 of them. People didn't start REALLY showing up until 10 (for a sunday box office opening at 12)
I'd say there are people that show up that early but it certainly doesn't seem necessary to.

Why are the people that show up early considered crazies? I see nothing wrong with showing up super early to ensure that you get a seat. If you're too lazy to wake up early, that's your own problem.
I do agree with you about the evils of line-cutting. It's like some people never went to kindergarten.
You can show up early and not be a crazy. It's just that the crazies also tend to show up early.
Cape Twirl, I also would have ripped that girl a new @sshole for trying to save all those places in line for her friends. Sounds like Legally needs a line bitch.
Wow, broadwayguy. Cool it with the animousity. Did a Legally Blonde fan kill your dog or something? You really need to calm down. I rushed two days in a row as I helped a friend out who could not rush one day. Both days, I saw no crazies. Everyone was well behaved.
I am a fan of the show and I got there early to rush. I got there at 7 on Saturday and 8:30 on Sunday...neither of those times were ridiculous, but they ensured I would get seats. I enjoyed rush at the Palace. There is a lot of room, it's very organized and there is tons of food right around you. McDonald's breakfast makes it worth it on its own. But i would say the last tickets went to people who got there around 9 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday. It sucks that people cut the line though. I hate when that happens and I would have said something.
Personally, I hope you end up rushing with a bunch of screaming teenage girls dressed in bright pink....but chances are, you will witness a well-behaved rush line.

Student rush is not bad at all, as others have attested. When I've rushed I've gotten there around 8 (for safety, you never know) with a handful of people in front of me, but, aside from the two-show days, I would say rush is filled by 9-9:20. Also, the Palace has a tremendous overhang/awning, so you're shielded from the elements (rain and snow, I've encountered in the past few weeks), also there is a Starbucks across the street and very clean restrooms next door at the Doubletree, not to mention a myriad of food choices. I would advise a rush; it's not a bad experience. The neons aren't that bright at 47th St, especially with TKTS construction. I would worry more about encountering high school tour groups than crazies in the line; most of the screamers have purchased their tickets ahead of time. Also, people complain about the looping demo, but it is minimally audible under the bustling sounds of Times Square.
Best of luck on your decision, and I hope I helped!

Thanks, I am well familiar with the Palace and Times sq as I live close by.... I just havent stopped by during rush.
yes, sane people show up early, but a lot of the crazies show up early as well.. and do their best to assure that no one outside of their clique can get seats. Yes, I know this happens. How? They are the same ones who almost lived at the Hirschfeld during the Wedding Singer run. Several sane. Plenty 'o' crazy.

I got there at 7:15 AM on April 7th, and was first in line.
Was leaving my hotel Sunday morning for the airport at 9:30 AM and saw a line of at least 20 people waiting at the Palace for the box office to open..... and thats with the monsoon that was coming down!
Thanks TM1162, you've now done the 'huge line even with a monsoon, but I'm just a tourist' line on 2 different threads. Broadwayguy, don't let the fans deter you, go rush and nevermind them. They don't have the market cornered on fandom for the LB cast.
I got there this past Saturday at about 9:15 and the line was from the front of the theater to the front of the Times Square info center.
Funny because I was there on Sunday and there was only about six people on line until 9:45.
And like I said, on Saturday, the line filled up around 8:30. Not ridiculous considering the box office opens at 10.
So, the LB Rush.... is it STUDENT only or is it for anyone?!?
Student rush.

Can I just say how amusing it is to see carymetorent's user pic of Richard Blake, and signature?
I got "Obstructed view" - not really obstructed at all for about $30.00 - not much more than rush.
I think a lot of people don't realize that they have rush during previews.
Where were the obstructed view seats?
So wait.....does Student Rush END after previews or will they keep it for the rest of the run??????
"Where were the obstructed view seats? "
Yes, where are they.
I believe I'm going up tomorrow.
My aunt is going to an opera and I wanna see LB.
I'd do obstucted view, if I don't get rush.
Do you think LB's rush would be worse than Spring Awakening?
People are showing up at 8-9 AM for this? Wow...
Never in a million years.
