Lennon still at 51 %-- UGH!!!!!

I just read on Playbill that Lennon is still at 50% for last week. When are they going to start advertising? The producers are going to kill the show before it opens if they don't start advertising!

How much longer is the preview period in NY?

I've seen plenty of ads. And subway advertisements.

I have tickets for October 8th - guess it's not looking too good for me, huh?

But Brooklyn didn't have big salaries. I'm sure Will, Mandy, Terrence, and Julia are all making alot!

The cast is so strong. I think I'm going to go see it just to support all of those talented performers. Especially Julia. She's my buddy. Love her.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if Yoko throws money at this. It will probably depend on the reviews, but I can't imagine the show going from 51% to sellout with the projected notices.

Woh. Wow. Someone here thinks anyone except Chuck Cooper and Terrence Mann are making big-time salaries? I somehow doubt it...and it's also telling that the two people with the least amount to do onstage are probably the highest-paid.

I'm not raining on a parade here, but I am not at all surprised that the show's hovering at 51%.
If you want to see it, don't wait.

You'd be surprised at how little some people make, even if you or I consider them a "Broadway Star". Nobody in Lennon is a name, at least as far as the general public is making. I am sure most of them are making slightly above scale.

i guess i won't have a problem getting a single rush ticket for saturday's matinee?

tomasmarx, i think you are mistaken... the only people who will be making more than the others are terrance and chuck, and that's simply because terrance is tony nominated and chuck has won a tony... that "title" gives them a little salary boost.

re: Lennon still at 51 %-- UGH!!!!!

OK- well maybe they aren't making huge salaries, but they have to be making more then "slightly above scale" A show with that many leads has to be expensive. Although they really didn't spend any money on sets.

The costuming for most of the show is supposed to be pretty simple too. I think the whole show however cost about $7 million to put on stage.
If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

I thought the show was renamed "St. Yoko"
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

BroadwayBaby6 -- It's really not that bad. I think everyone should see it before they judge it.It's not the best show, but there are some amazingly talented actors!

This show deserves better.
I don't think they need a big box office to make a go of it, $300 to $400 K should do it.
I loved this show, and am spreading the word every chance, an uphill battle, but let's hope.

BTW, I don't think reviews will have much influence here, lots of people have preconceived notions about John Lennon. Hopefully the fans will come, and those just plain interested, but it will be a tough sell to the "sons of Tricky Dicky" Republicans.

I think this will be a tough sell to many besides " Sons of Tricky Dick" especially after the notices. This seems like a vanity trip for Yoko

^^ really guys, I have to support what TomasMarx said:

The Yoko stuff is not bad! Yes, Yoko is a big part of the show, but she was ALSO a big part of John's later life! You really really can't pre-judge this show, because you really don't know. I love this show so much, and it kills me to see it with such a lot capacity every week. However, we must keep in mind that it is still in previews, and while I don't think the box office will EXPLODE come Opening Night, MOST theatre-goers, when they have to spend money, try to see a show that's in it's concrete state. Things change in previews, and unless you're like the growing group of "Lennonites" (who want to see the changes in progress), they're gonna wait until after opening.

This cast is remarkable, one of the best I've ever seen, and they are so equal to each other (not necessarily stage time-wise, because some have more than others), but as far as performers and talent goes, they just escalate each other to another level of awesomeness!

Don't dump on the show if you haven't seen it. And don't dump on Yoko, either. Give the woman SOME credit.

Ugh. I sincerely hope the show will last long enough for a cast recording...and long enough till September at least. I have to see it one last time!

As much as I love Julia, Mandy, and Will...why would they be making more money than Chuck or some others? LOL.
