I was just listening to Les Miz thinking of how it would make a great animated film. Has this ever been considered?
Ha, I've been saying that for years! No one would ever make it because the target audience would be much older than the usual target audience for animated films, but I think it would be wonderful.
Of course, I also think Fiddler on the Roof would be a brilliant animated movie.
Yeah, the Animaniacs!

I just can't picture a cartoon Fiddler, but Les Miz has all the epic-ness of those disney cartoons.
Since that movie was supposed to be completed by 1992, and then again in 2005...I am at the thought that they will probably just film the final London Cast, whenever that may be.
Makes more sense - Les Mis works well on the stage, but certain songs (One Day More, for instance) would be near impossible to do properly on screen.
Agreed with whoever said the age thing...I doubt Cameron Mackintosh would do it animated, Les Mis isn't necessarily a feel-good story througout.

I would like to see an animated "The King & I". I think Miranda Richardson should be Anna's speaking voice and Christiane Noll should be Anna's singing voice.
Yeah, the Animaniacs!
Oh, wow, I remember that! "Runt Val Runt, there's no escaping me, haha, hoho, heheheheheheHEEE!"

~Oh help us God, we're living with a Sweeney Todd~
Anyway... it'd make a good animated movie, but it wouldn't be very family-friendly. They'd probably have to butcher it like they did with Hunchback.

Even though it's related more to the book than the musical (and focuses on Cosette), I believe this anime series is the closest you'll get to an animated Les Miserables.

UGH, don't get me started on the anime. I could rant for hours D:<
Bishie Enjolras is possibly the most terrifying thing I've seen in the world of animation, and I saw Legend of the Overfiend. XD

That Anime video made absolutely no sense...
Sadly, though, that anime is probably closer to the original novel than ANY of the many, many film adaptations of Les Miserables. Which makes me sad.
While we're on the subject, has anyone heard of Arm Joe, the Japanese Les Miserables fighting game? http://lesmis.wikia.com/wiki/ArmJoe

Yes, I've played it. It's a lot of fun.
Just reading the description of Arm Joe is mind-boggling enough for me. I had to read every sentence at least twice after a "Wait...what?" moment. That is nuts.
The part about Les Amis was a joke... but he first half was true.
LOVE the Animanicas bit and have for YEARS.
The Anime LES MIZ is pretty good actually
I also have this version:

I am laughing so hard at ArmJoe. Cosette throwing Valjeans? Marius sulking when he wins? Hugging Javert? LOL.
I personally like Marius throwing skeletons. If canon Marius so much as came within ten feet of a skeleton, he'd probably come down with an attack of the vapours.

Animated King and I- NO. There is an animated version of the story and it is terrible.
