It should stay. It deserved a longer run than Phantom!

I think it should definitely stick around. It's doing well and there's obviously still an audience for it out there. Plus, I just love it so much.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

I agree that it should definetly stay. and Little_Sally is right, it is evident that there are still plenty of people who want to see the show and it is bringing in people from all over the nation

At the end of Les Mis' run a couple years ago, the show was just painful to watch. It seemed like the actors would rather be doing anything BUT the show. I think it's best that the revival be a limited run. Keeps it fresh.

they should keep it forever and ever

I have seen this revival 4 times

Lets hope it stays for a while.

From the mouth of the man at the box office on Thursday night: "We are an open run, they haven't announced it yet but we're currently selling through the Summer."

hmm.. the grosses have been GOOD, but do not warrant an extension, IMO.
EDIT: Hmm, Telecharge.com is showing that it is currently running through mid-June, so it has extended!

I don't think the thing should have re-opened in the first place....but I think it was pretty obvious from the beginning that it would end up turning into an open-ended run. I said that the day the revival was announced and I still fully believe that is what will happen.

I'll say this: if it were a choice between this show or TARZAN, I would close TARZAN in a heartbeat.
If it were a choice between this or JERSEY BOYS, I'd say JERSEY BOYS should stay and LES MIS should go.
But since there is no choice, I'd say keep LES MIS.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

During the months after 9/11 no toursits came at all to NYC an that hurt the original production of Les Miserables a lot. If 9/11 never happend and tourists didn't stop comming to nyc at all then the original production would still be playing

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the cuts were instituted in the fall of 2000, before 9/11. And the cuts were instituted to bring down the running costs, so they would no longer have to pay overtime, because it was barely breaking even.

They had 17 years to see it. They aren't missing anything anyway (uninspired and unimaginative staging, mediocre acting). It's time to cook this turkey.

Go. PLEASE go.
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

If it does extend into the summer, I am taking some of my savings, and rewarding myself with a trip to New York for FINALLY graduating from college next May!

They made the cuts because the coast of paying the crew overtime was starting to hurt them. Union rules say that if a show is over three hours then the crew gets overtime. After paying overtime for so long it started to burn their pockets

I hope it stays long enough to make a profit, and at least past the Tony Awards(I would like to see this cast perform at the awards). I am glad that the word is that it looks good for it staying open though the Tonys.

It should stay forever! Broadway isn't Broadway without it.

No offense to the show (which I love) and this production (which I haven't seen), but the box office for this show has been OK, but not stellar. Though I'm sure they had every intention of running it longer than 6 months, I think they should close up shop and put it back on the road. Let's free up a theatre for something NEW!

I DON'T CARE! I JUST WANT THEM TO RECORD!!!
...actually, i do care. It was incredible and i'd love to see this cast again (esp. Daphne and Celia), but if they release a recording with this cast, i think that would definitely move me to a "I don't care if it closes" status.
Sorry Grant, but its true. I just want to be able to HEAR the show again!

It should stay longer!
