"Not to be negative, cause I loved Chicago, but that Oscar belonged to The Pianist. Just goes to show that the Oscars are outdated and out of touch. "
Carl Magnum, you have to be kidding! The Pianist was one of the most overrated films in recent years. Chicago hit the mark. It made the movie musical cool...for a while, at least.
When was the last time before Chicago that a movie musical won Best Picture?
Catherine was perfect as Velma...but yeah...she could work out a little bit...even Roxie tells her that she is fat in the movie!
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".
-Felicia Finley-
I loved the film, and Ms Zeta-Jones gave an incredible performance, but I do have a major problem with her winning best SUPPORTING actress for it. Her name is above the title, Velma is a co-lead in the story (true, the movie is more or less Roxie's story, but Velma is much more than a supporting role), and Bebe won the Tony Award for best actress (not best SUPPORTING actress)in a musical for the same role.
Catherine SHOULD have been nominated (and should have won) for BEST ACTRESS, and Queen deserved BEST SUPPORTING
