Wow, so much hostility. Maybe the producer likes him as a writer and is willing to put money. What's wrong with that?
Let the market decide if the show is a bad investment or not.

I don't see why people are so offended by posters expressing their opinions about a show or a planned show. It's the producer's money, let them spend it how they want. But I have a right to say that I think this show sounds just awful the way it is being promoted so far. From what I have read about it, and that is not much, I admit, it sounds very misguided and ego driven. Rather like The Blonde in the Thunderbird. I am not attacking anyone personally, I am not saying this person has not had an intersting life, I am not saying someone won't be moved by it...all I am saying is that to me it sounds like a Theatrical disaster waiting to happen...Prove me wrong...
PEACE.

It's the way the opinions are being expressed, not the fact that they are being expressed. There is nothing saying that opinions aren't allowed, but maybe they could be put just a little nicer.

"It has touched many people."
Correction, it has touched many children.
So has Michael Jackson.

Oh believe me, this show will be anything BUT ego-driven. We're not talking about SS here. And how was the show being promoted? You just read 1 Playbill article announcing that the show is in development, NOTHING else went to the press yet.
Oh and ya know I love you Starchild

We all have the right to our opinions, however misguided OR correct, Sueleen. With many of the posters on this thread, and those in general who simply enjoy slamming BKLYN, they have a history of being intentionally offensive to BKLYN fans. Therefore there is already a tone set in some of the posts, as you note. A shared hostility.
No one is saying you have no right to your opinion. It appears to me that you're expressing an opinion based upon very little knowledge of the subject. If you choose to form and share your opinion, even based upon nothing but someone else's opinion, that is your right. However, don't be surprised when some people with more knowledge or information, or even those who simply have a differing opinion that yours, argue back. If you can't stand the heat.....

This is so true. It was announced just a little while ago.

it seems a little much to me. Lots of shows have cult followings. Dance of the Vampires did, but you don't see a Jim Steinman solo show off-broadway.

If I can't stand the heat? Honey, I am the pot.
Anyway, if you don't think the Playbill article is a "promotion" then you are pretty naive. And my very little knowledge of the subject only comes from all articles I have read about Brooklyn and it's origins...and of course the Playbill "article". Oh, and years of watching well intended shows with misguided concepts come and go...like the (whistle down the) wind.

Re: Thenardier: BKLYN "has touched many children. So has Michael Jackson"
Now you're just being ridiculous. Jackson was acquitted.
We BKLYN fans stick together in part because of posters, like you, who go beyond expressing your dislike for a show and personally attack the fans (us) who disagree with you. If your posts weren't so snarky, perhaps you could find someone to get your back too. Tiny, Sarah, Emo and others have my back (and I theirs) because we happen to agree and to like each other. And because there is a contingent of BKLYN -haters that delight in posting nasty comments on this board which SOMETIMES just beg for a response. We respect each other because we rarely resort to personal attacks in our posts, unless ABSOLUTELY necessary to make a point or defend ourselves. And no matter how many times you've called us pathetic, stupid, children, etc, I haven't resorted to calling you names in return. Even tho they sometimes do spring to mind.

Well, no sooner said.... LOL. OK, so I try to steer clear of personal attacks, anyway. That "nurses" comment was funny, tho, Emo. Not nice, but funny.
Also funny, Master. I hope you're wrong, but that was funny. I laughed.
Sue - your tone indicates you're the one who's offended. Not my intention, but, whatever. I'm surprised you're so interested in BKLYN as to have read all those articles, considering your opinion of the show and of the Schoenfeld project. All articles in Playbill have the effect of promotion, of course, I never said otherwise. I think you're more about stirring the pot than being the pot, though, Sue.
