Sorry, Brit here!
Are the child labour laws different on Bway?
Over here a child can't do the full 8 shows. Think it's around max 4.
At her age I would never have thought she would be doing 8!
Sorry, I didn't mean to bad mouth her. I truly think she is PHENOMENAL! Just a little disappointed that 4 out of the 5 times I saw it she wasn't in it, then would instagram and tweet her playing around all day. Kinda strange. But I really do think she is amazing.
Everyone is saying she "Aged out" which is probably true. I remember watching an interview with Andrea Mcardle (I think it was a broadway.com interview) and she said that she believes the most prime time for a girl to play Annie is RIGHT when she looks just about too old to. I think Lilla is right at that age, and think she would be perfect to go on for a few months longer! But, I do think Sadie and Taylor are amazing! They will be great. I'm excited for them!

Again KathyNYC2, where are you getting your info from? You obviously are connected with Annie in some fashion. You seem to know that Lilla was always supposed to go on 6x a week and it had nothing to do with voice strain and that “she grew out of the role…period”. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with someone with an inside scoop posting (it would be quite boring otherwise), I find it a bit disingenuous when posters don’t just say “Hey, my friend’s child is in this production and I think they are fantastic.” Instead, they leave out the first part and simply say that the child is the greatest actor, singer, dancer ever to grace Broadway. Clearly they realize if they give up their identity, their opinion has little relevance. But what I find to be completely pathetic and utterly disgraceful is when that same person says, “This child is the greatest ever but that other child just sadly can’t sing”. In their mind this other girl is a threat. In reality, it is a bunch of little girls who simply love going out there every night and performing. What is so comical is that right after KathyNYC2 posted a negative comment about one of the orphans she pleaded (concerning Lilla) “It’s just unnecessary to pick on her...she’s a kid.” Time to come clean Kathy, or maybe it's just time to go away. I'm guessing this post will destruct in 5,4,3...

Not sure why my earlier post was deleted, seems a little odd, but again, Lila didn't age out of the role. Her contract wasn't renewed due to "various" reasons. She wasn't dramatically fired or anything, her contract was just not renewed. Period.
Just like Paula Deen!
If there were "reasons" its the non-troublesome way of "firing".
Yes, it sounds like Brit laws have much shorter acceptable working hours. They can only rehearse/perform so many hours a day, but I don't think they are limited specifically to a certain number of performances. I'm sure someone with specific info will drop in soon.

"Her contract wasn't renewed due to "various" reasons."
As were at least four other girls in the show!
What I'm surprised at is the news that the two new Annies will also alternate as one of the other orphans. Huh. That's odd, isn't it? Outside of Young Cosette/Young Eponine, and Young Nala being in Circle of Life on her off-night (and those are both glorified walk-ons designed, presumedly, to give the kid who is the standby that night something to do), I can't think I've seen any of this kind of double-casting with kids on Broadway. Is this fairly standard?
^I saw the original West End production in February 1980 and there were two sets of orphans and Annie's who alternated (granted child labor laws are different there).

Sam this is the only time I will respond to your post because you keep bringing up my name. The reason I have not responded earlier is because you were rude and confrontational. There were many other posts about this topic and you didn't ask them to substantiate their views. I don't appreciate being singled out...more than once. There were a lot of mean-spirited unsubstantiated posts here (some have even been removed). You don't question them but you question me?
If I do have "inside info", I am surely not going to post what inside info it is on a public message board. On the other hand, if it's just my opinion, I am entitled to it.
As a rule, I am not a confrontational poster and I don't intend to start at this time other than to explain myself this once.I post what I believe and/or know and that's the last you are going to hear from me on this topic.

We all knew she would be leaving at some point. I guess we all just assumed it would have been after AT LEAST a year. With that said, we get to have her amazing performance captured on the recording and various youtube videos. She's right up there with Andrea McArdle.
There is so much BS and plain out lies out his thread.

Thank you so much Kathy for responding. Your post says it all. And I’ve changed my mind: I don’t want you to go away, this is too much fun. I realize you “don’t appreciate being singled out….more than once” (if it was just once would that have been okay with you?), so if you had just answered the first post we’d be done. The question was simple: your comments regarding Lilla going on 6x a week and leaving b/c she grew out of the role….period, were they your opinion or do you have inside info? Not difficult, not rude or confrontational. I’m not asking you to name names although I believe it is very evident where your info is coming from. Also, your “opinion” runs contrary to many others’ “opinions” which puts into question where the inside info, I mean your “opinion” is coming from.
And yes, there are mean spirited remarks here, but here’s the rub, when it’s your darling it’s “mean spirited” but when you do it, it’s merely your “opinion” (which as you state you are entitled to). Funny how that works. And although you state you are not a confrontational poster (when did you establish this rule?) you write confrontational posts! I don’t really think you mind confrontation, I just don’t think you like being confronted with the truth. And about these “unsubstantiated posts here”, are they unsubstantiated based on your inside info or is this just another one of your “opinions”? Tell me Kathy, how soon will this post be removed?
