Barbra, as I don't think there'd be an Eder without a Streisand. It's obvious to me that Linda spent many years in her bedroom singing along with Streisand's LPs. Hell, so did I!
Linda. I was in a store yesterday and they were playing her version of "Someone Like You." Her concert is coming up soon on the island, isn't it?

I love them both, but like someone said Linda is Babs without the attitude and there probably wouldn't be a Linda without Streisand's influence and exposure. The world is big enough for them both How about having them record a duet?

I like them both vocally. But I like Linda a bit more because she actually tours! I am over the Barbara Streisand stage fright thing! And I wasn't too happy with her making a statement, from California, about Amendment 2 here in Colorado and then not doing anything to support her statement. If she really wanted to help, she could have done a benefit concert here. I am kinda over her!
When I answered I wasn't talking about popularity or niceness or acting ability or political views or touring or anything else. I was simply responding to the pure flowing gold of Barbra's voice.

Barbra - that's not even a question for me! The voice, the emotion (which, in my opinion, Eder lacks - she does nothing for me)- nothing and no one can beat that.

Ive seen them both in concert and theres no question whatsoever to me that Eder has the best voice, the better range and a purity that Streisand always lacked IMO. It would be easy to say Steisand is the better interpreter and has more of an emotional connection to her songs, but then again you're always aware that she is putting on a "performance" and she goes way overboard to me in the quest for a perfect performance. I prefer Eder.
Peter - I would agree that Barbra tends to border on the elaborate, but this seems to have emerged later on in her career. There are a many a time when Barbra simply stood there and sang, and expressing so much through her hands, and obviously through her voice. This was around the sixies and her work then was truely amazing.
To me, she created a lot with her voice and imagination, giving a new life and meaning to a lot of songs she was singing. I always that the Barbra had the most clear singing voice out of a long line of singers. Some of her best works came around this time in my opinion. Such as "Down With Love", "I Stayed To Long At The Fair", "Any Place I Hang My Hat Is Home", etc. Her comedy is genuis I think, in songs like "Value", "A Kid Again/I'm 5", "Sweet Zoo", "I Hate Music", etc. Linda, who has an amazing voice, seems to have just that, a really good voice. She does have a strong connection to her work and to her audience but Barbra seemed to have it all. Every song seemed a new adventure, and a lot of the times it seems like Linda just belts them out. Which is still no easy feat. But when it comes down to it, Barbra to me is the real deal.
