Which do you prefer? I was jsut curious because I have been listening to then both a lot lately and they both obviously amazing, but which do you prefer over the other?
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I love Linda Eder and Barbra Streisand both, however, nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, is better than Barbra Streisand in my mind. SHE IS SOOOOOOO AMAZING!!! Definitely my favorite performer of all time, and, as much as I love Linda Eder, she can't hold a candle to Barbra Streisand. She's a goddess!
"I believe that art does not exist only to entertain, but also to challenge one to think, to provoke, even to disturb, to engage in a constant search for the truth."
- Barbra Streisand
Barbra Streisand is the most amazing of the amazing! She blows everyone out of the water, even now she is still amazing! She will probably be amazing until the day she dies!

Reviews and the like
But that's probably a generation gap thing. I missed Streisand in her prime. By the time I knew who she was, she was already a caricature of herself. So, it's been Linda Eder for me. However, I doubt Eder will ever achieve the acclaim and have the career Streisand has had. Not that Eder has had a bad career or anything.
To Mr. Roxy.........you write....Barbra is going on her yearly farewell tour.
Barbra's career has never been focused on touring. It's always been recordings, film and tv specials. She toured in 1966, but had to cut it short due to her pregnancy. Before that, she performed in Las Vegas showrooms and did some concerts on the West Coast and the Mid West prior to her starring in "Funny Girl" on Broadway. Her last concert which was in Las Vegas, persuant to her concert with the then International Hotel......now the Las Vegas Hilton, was in 1971.
22 years later, she returned to the concert stage on 12/31/93 & 1/1/94 at The MGM Grand. Before The MGM Grand she performed a few times for charity. "One Voice" in 1986 and a few others.
After the success of The MGM Grand she toured the US and London for 24 concerts that were ultimately videotaped and released as "Barbra: The Concert," winning 5 Emmy Awards.
She returned to the concert stage on 12/31/99 & 1/1/00, again at The MGM Grand for "Timeless." She picked up another Emmy for "Timeless." She did 4 concerts in Australia in March of 2000, then 4 more.......2 in LA and 2 in NYC in September of 2000.
Yes, granted, she did say that during "Timeless" she wouldn't do anymore concerts. Look at how many times Frank Sinatra said the same thing?
People change their minds all the time. It's no big deal. But, people just love to bash Barbra...??? I guess it's because she tells it like it is, and she's a woman. Many people, especially women, don't like the fact that Barbra speaks her mind. If a man does it, he's assertive...knows what he wants, etc. But, if a woman does it, she's difficult, and a B****.
Take Cher, for example, her Farewell Tour lasted several years. It was just announced that when Celine Dion leaves Caesar's Palace next year, Cher will take over. But, that's what it was.......her Farewell Tour........the last time she tours. Cher never said that she wouldn't perform again. She said she wouldn't tour again.
And, besides, we're all enticed my money. Barbra and Cher will make MILLIONS, MILLIONS of dollars for their concerts. They'd be crazy to turn it down.
Having seen Barbra and Linda both live many, many times. It's hard to say who is better.
But, one thing we can all agree on.......singers like Barbra, Linda and Elaine Paige....you have to see them live to experience THE VOICE. The cd can't capture the quality of THE VOICE!!!
nealb1, I don't think it was Roxy's intention to bash Streisand, I think it was just supposed to be a joke. It's just an opinion, no need to get all in a tizzy.
Yes, I'm sure it will be Garland songs and a mixture of Broadway and her other stuff. I saw her in November at Carneige Hall and then again here in LA in December of last year.
She's amazing!!!!
The SF concert is just here. The LA concert the next day is her and Michael Finestein.
