Lindsay Lohan is apparently keen to tread the boards on Broadway and wants to star in the musical Wicked.

The flame-haired actress is said to want the part of green witch Elphaba in the show, which is currently playing to packed audiences in London's West End.

"Lindsay saw it when she was last in London and would love to play the role," an insider told the Daily Star.

"She thinks it is a great part and knows it would go down a storm in New York. Theatre bosses in the Big Apple are keen to get Lindsay signed up to a variety of stage projects.

"They're regularly inundated with her fans asking them to get her treading the boards. She would be a big draw on Broadway."

The show originally opened on Broadway in October 2003, with Idina Menzel starring as Elphaba, and was promptly nominated for 10 Tony Awards. Idina picked up the Best Actress in a Musical gong for her performance.

Q:What advice do you have for aspiring Broadway stars who are terminally shy? I love your work, because you seem so bold. How do you do it? A:"I think I take more chances on stage then I do in real life but you can't learn anything if you don't challenge yourself. And don't say "terminally". If you love to perform then you have no choice, just keep training and focus on the words or the music whenever you find yourself slipping back inside yourself. You're not doing anyone any favors if you withhold your talents from the world"- Idina Menzel

Why would the producers want to stunt cast Lindsay Lohan (and pay her a hefty paycheck) if the show is already selling out nightly?

She can barely show up when she's need on a movie set, yet she expects to do eight shows a week on Broadway? Yeah that makes sense.

Nothing in the Daily Star is ever true.

I don't know if she could handle the vocals or not, but the fact remains that she's a good actress, despite her myriad personal problems. That being said, I agree that it would be a huge leap of faith to assume she'd be able to handle the rigors of eight shows a week right now.

What Lindsay wants and what she gets are probably two different things. I'm skeptical about the article, but one would hope that there would be protest from SOMEWHERE on the totem pole.

She so cant handle those vocals, the only role in that show she is suited for is Nessa, or maybe one of those "rat people" who have no lines, lol.

Lohan?

Oh God no.

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

She'll blow herself out as either of the two leads, but I can see her working as Nessa, but I doubt she'd want to.

Only with:

Justin Timberlake as Fiyero
Britney Spears as Glinda
Mel Gibson as Boq
Queen Latifah as Nessa (though I'd love to see her on B'way)

Rachel Dratch as Morrible (though I'd love to see on B'way too)
Alec Baldin as Dillamond

Are you kidding me? Queen Latifah as Nessa? She's not the daintiest of actresses...I personally vote for my tried and true favorites:

Elphaba: Carol Channing
Glinda: Cher
Nessa: Dolly Parton
Morrible: Bea Arthur
Chistery: Betty White
Fiyero: Rue Mclanahan

will never happen..she's not insurable at the moment due to her shenanigans with recent film roles and no theatre producer would hire her for a minor show let alone a major one under those conditions.

"nothing can kill a show like too much Lindsay Lohan..."

Too too funny.

Sounds like the British press taking something mentioned in passing and running with it. "I'd love to play that part. Crap- where's my flask?"

Linday should stick to "Chicago" like every other "can kinda sing, can kinda dance" actress if she wants to take on Broadway. I think the article took an off-handed comment by Lindsay and turned it into a fact. She loves Wicked and has seen it many times. If she even said in a light-hearted way, "I'd love to be able to play that part" they can twist it into that she was seriously interested.

There is no doubt Lindsay could get the part in the film WICKED-in a heartbeat. She would get it over most actresses. She's sound great on a soundtrack with her voice all fixed up. Jessica Simpson would probably be Glinda.

Someone says that nothing in the Daily Star is true, and STILL people post "Oh, my God, nooooo!" I'll reiterate, not that it will do any good: Nothing in the Daily Star is true - think of it as the US Star.

I think watching Lindsay attempt the final notes of Defying Gravity would be worth $125 easy. But what cracks me up is all the people on here dissing her would be at the stage door wanting pictures with her or asking her to sign their copy of MEAN GIRLS.
