wait...ashley brown and celia both couldnt play it...theyr starring in new shows (mary poppins and les miz respectively)...it doesnt sound right they would leave so soon....
and scarlett pomers or whatever can sing...but not well enough and does not sound or act like ariel
and OMG diana degarmo...its hard enought to see her as penny (though she can sing...) and yes she is age apropriate but her look is completely off! not to mention her voice...is almost husky! good but not right AT ALL!
i personally dont like kerry butler as choice not cuz of her age...but her voice and portrayal....its too harsh...a cartoon of a cartoon LOL does anyone agree???
lea salonga i think is too old....she was in the original les mis wasnt she??
jennie kwan is cute i havent heard her yet though in the picture i could see it a little bit....the problem is that in theater when they do "blind casting" they end up repeating over and over again (meaning though they cast lets say a black person in millie as muzzy using blind casting...they feel the need to cast a black person every time in the role even though the role is raceless...it kinda defeats the purpose but thats what happens)...im not sure they ready to make ariel asian every time...i think its stupid that every time the person has to act and look like the original but thats the way it usually is...i understand though too cuz when u buy a cd or see the show and then see the tour u want it to be the same people...but it cant so they do the next best
i wonder whoooo
Some more pics of Jennie Kwan.

"I was on New Jersey Transit yesterday going into NYC and heard two women (mid 20's) talking about their friend who worked at Dinsey World and her audition for the Little Mermaid on Broadway. This of course peaked my interest and I asked them if they could elaborate since I am a broadway fan. They explained that the majority of people auditioning for Ariel have played her in Disneyworld. Granted these could be prelimary casting sessions but I thought it was an interesting little tidbit."
Oh Lord, help us all if this is true. I used to work at Disney World and have seen my fair share of Ariels. Most of them are horrid!
I doubt they would end up casting someone from the theme parks. They are already sort of fighting the image of Disneyworld on Broadway. Unless, of course, there was someone who was just completely amazing. But she would have to be astounding and then some...
Alli: Eden Espinosa's next project then?
I'm pretty sure Stephanie Block was Belle in BEAUTY IN THE BEAST at Disneyland and was very seriously considered for the original Broadway production (role of course going to Susan Egan).

...and Eden Espinosa was Pochahontas and stuff at Disneyland too.
FYI the Ariel's at Disney World have to sing in the show "The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid"...
Ariel: Eden Espinosa
Eric: Norbert
Ursula: Debra Monk

Possible ariels (in my opinion):
1.Scarlett Pomers -- she seems absolutely perfect for the part
2.Jennie Kwan
3.Eden Espinosa -- a tad too old for the part, but I think she could pull it off
If Eden Espinosa was told she was too old to play Eponine, she's definitely too old to play a teenage fish.
um she's a mermaid.. michael.. please address her correctly!!!

That reminds me of the line from Zoolander:
"Merman MERMAN!!!!
not to mention her voice...is almost husky! good but not right AT ALL!
Diana played Maria in WSS, so I can't imagine that her voice is too husky to play Ariel.
I think that either Diana or Tina Maddigan would be perfect.

Actually, Tina would be great as ariel too. There are a lot of people that would be fantastic ariels...so hard to choose!

Has everyone forgotten Katie Clarke? She would be amazing!

Katie Clarke would be good too. Hmm.
I vote for Barrett Foa to be anyone that is shirtless!
I'm all for that. I would also be on cloud nine if Tina was Ariel.
I'll say again that I wouldn't mind Matt Bogart as Eric. He has an edge to him that would make Eric interesting.

its true that many broadway stars have worked at themeparks...you have to start somewhere! i dont think being ariel at disneyworld will help or hurt you...im sure some of them are great and some bad...but most people in the world know the songs anyway so it wouldn't be quite an advantage to have kinda played the part before...the only advantage they have is that they know that they do look like ariel...but that really is not the most important aspect nor are they necessarily golng for the same look...it doesnt surprise me many disney ariels showed up...but im not so sure they will get the role nor sure they will get cut immediatley
