Little Mermaid Closing?

Alright I know how people have been saying of it closing, but more tickets go out for sale today through December 13th. Its weird though because that is not even a month more of tickets for a next block. I'll be shocked if Disney closes the show before the weeks when they are the busiest. What does everyone else think?

I agree that it's odd timing...not to place the tix on sale through new years....but you're right, they wouldn't close right before the holidays and frankly, I don't think they are truly in danger of closing that soon.
Only time will tell.

Posted: 6/8/09 at 3:04pmMary Poppins and Lion King are also on sale only to December 13th so that's probably not any indication it's closing right before the holidays weeks.

I thought that this was going to be another thread talking about how The Addams Family is going to take The Lunt.
If that is the case (and I do think it is) then I do think that they would close it but not before the holiday rush. If another show is taking that theatre they would have to close but not that soon.

Posted: 6/9/09 at 8:30pmOk. I didn't realize that all three shows put out tickets til 12/13. But i think it is still weird though because it wasn't even another month of tickets, more like 3 weeks.

Posted: 6/9/09 at 8:33pmOdds are there will be a different schedule for the holidays which is why the Disney shows aren't selling tickets past Dec 13.

Posted: 6/10/09 at 11:23amI heard from someone who works at the theater that it will most likely close in December (maybe right after the holidays?) and that Addams Family is looking at the Marquis or the Broadway.

Posted: 6/10/09 at 11:31amYea, Eris, is right Disney will make press release for holiday ticket sales with on-sale dates and will either raise prices, offer 4-packs or some discount, and change the schedules to further run their actors into the ground.

"I heard from someone who works at the theater that it will most likely close in December (maybe right after the holidays?) and that Addams Family is looking at the Marquis or the Broadway."
Wrong. While it may be POSSIBLE that they LOOKED at the Marquis, the Broadway is a Shubert house. Before the Nederlanders signed on the Shuberts wanted it at the Shubert. But Group Sales are already on sale, and the seating plan being used is for the Lunt. They would have to re-do ALL the tickets if they were to put it in any other theater. The Broadway Theater is the only theater that the Addams Family could move to without having to re-issue seating assignments, but as I said, it's a Shubert house and The Addams Family is a Nederlander show.

Disney is probably waiting to see what increase other shows will make before they act...remember when after the holidays they went back down to the pre-holiday ticket prices? Now it seems like the shows just keep them at that price until the next year when they raise them again!

Posted: 7/7/09 at 6:04pmIt's also possible that Disney just wants to move on to other projects. I'm not happy about TLM closing either, though.
