So I've been listening to Little Shop of Horrors a lot lately. It has always been one of my favorite shows and I feel like I don't know enough about it.
So I figured I'd start this thread for people to share their thoughts and whatnot.
Some questions I have are:
Did anyone here see the original off-broadway production? How about with Faith Prince as Audrey?
Anyone see the Florida pre-bway tryout with Alice Ripley and Hunter Foster? How was Alice?
Before someone gives me the "Google is your friend" speech, I'd just like to say that I would rather hear first hand, fan thoughts rather than thoughts from a critic's point of view.
I'll get the ball rolling with this idea I had for a dream-cast concert:
Seymour - Neil Patrick Harris
Audrey - Leslie Kritzer
Audrey II - Jennifer Holliday (I mean...c'mon, it's in her range and she needs SOMETHING to do besides Dreamgirls).
Mushnik - Nathan Lane
Orin (et al.) - Norbert Leo Butz
Urchins - Crystal: Shayna Steel, Chiffon: Brandi Chavonne Massey, Ronette: Ledisi (The "White Boys" trio from The Actors Fund concert of Hair).
Okay, I really like the idea of NPH as Seymour. At first, I thought it was strange casting, but when I thought about it, I really started to think it was brilliant.
Sadly, I don't think there'll be a revival anytime soon, given the not-so-grand reception of the last one.
I think Brittany Murphy would be a brilliant Audrey.
The last one brought us Kerry Butler. I'm game.

...Not sure how I feel about Leslie as Audrey, but NPH and NLB are inspired.
And Audrey II should be a man.
Audrey II as a woman would make no sense...
it needs to be a man.

Little Shop of Horrors is my all time favorite show.
And, yes. Brittany Murphy would make a fantastic Audrey.

And haven't you learned?
Jennifer Holliday is NEVER going to quit Dreamgirls. She's going to milk that thing like a prize cow. Consider her the brassy, female, black Anthony Rapp.
TheCharleston- you'd be surprised how many productions have a woman play Audrey II.
And it never, ever works.
LOL!
Yeah, it really doesn't...
Is it wrong of me to want Sam Wright for Audrey Two?

No. In fact I'd say it's WRIGHT.

I saw a show with Mushnik and Audrey 2 played by girls. Didn't work ONE BIT. Mushnik and Son was done very seductivly with her making out with Seymore at the end.

I would love to see a revival done in the Helen Hayes. I think that the Virginia was too much. This is a more intimate show and needs a smaller house. I think that NPH is a good choice for Seymour, as for Audrey, I would love to see Jenna Leigh Green (there is a video on that site of her singing Suddenly Seymour with Adam Wylie).
And in the spirit of Little Shop, watch this AMAZING video of the Prolouge:

I'm not a huge fan of the show, but with cast the OP suggested I definitely would see it. I think Lesile would be wonderful as Audrey
btw why does Audrey II not work as a woman?
"btw why does Audrey II not work as a woman?"
Really..?

Overall I really like that cast, especially Norbert and Neil.
And I'll mention when I saw the show, a woman played Audrey II and it worked fine.
This is one of my favorite shows of all time, btw.

wow. that clip was amazing. I choose them lol.
I'm also curious as to why it doesnt work with a woman? I can understand a girl, but a soulful woman? I almost think it would be cool to have a seductive plant, luring Seymour to do her bidding lol.

I saw it off-Broadway and enjoyed it. Rob Evan was the dentist.
Did anyone see the recent London revival? I heard that it was VERY different. I'm curious about what kind of changes were made.
