I'm a bit behind, but this is already more exciting to me than last week's. His voice is buttery, and the arrangements that he uses are excellent. His music director should be commended.
I'm watching the this, loving it, and screamed at the top of my lungs: "HIM! He needs to be in a revival of Golden Boy!!"
Couldn’t pay me to watch that ego on display.

While his silky voice was well suited for many of the songs, did we have to get non-traditional arrangements of everything? And I would have appreciated hearing some of his interactions with the audience, rather than those quasi-documentary clips in between the numbers. Though I enjoyed, I found myself checking my watch several times even with its brief running time.
I love that two slums on here, who don't know Leslie, think they have the authority to comment on his "ego."
I do agree that in interviews, he comes across as being a bit full of himself, but there's no denying the talent. I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Loved the voice and the band. Hated most of the arrangements.
The hint of ego turned me off at the Tony Award and then really turned me off after the Travis Smiley interview where he dissed Broadway and theatre.

Question: I just listened to that interview in its entirety and didn't hear him diss Broadway or theatre at all..... What are you talking about??!

He has a well-known reputation in the industry, and he's earned it well. Don't be a willfully ignorant and obtuse person.

No one is being obtuse.
He was the victim of a very sneaky smear campaign in the community because he fought for his worth and the worth of the original cast of Hamilton when Lin (by not doing anything about it) and the producers were fighting against the original cast of Hamilton.
Personally, I thought it was boring. Low energy.
I was not engaged at all, and I WAS somehow put-off by his approach. Yes, I would agree about "his ego." I wouldn't have described it exactly as such, but that definitely came through. Yes, ...I was aware of some snark post-Ham, but to be fair, hang around here long enough and you'll eventually hear that about everyone except for Angela Lansbury and Dolly Parton. And a strong ego is no doubt necessary for success in the biz. But it felt dismissive. Perhaps his insistence in non-standard arrangements and lack of patter or crowd-pleasers, was somewhat responsible for this impression. (or indicative of arrogance)
I'm glad I saw it. It wasn't a waste and I did really enjoy some songs, but all-in-all I was disappointed. Given that it was free to see, I ain't complaining, but won't bother paying bucks to see him at Feinstein's.
A Tony award winning actor with an EGO? Say it ain't so!

Sums up my feeling exactly. There was just something a bit *shrugs* about it. A pleasant enough listen while |I was reading.

Leslie Odom Jr. getting an EGO after winning the Tony officially makes him an EGOT. That's gotta be the fastest anyone's ever done that.
