Liza's At The Palace broadcast.. a few thoughts.

I thought they did a very good job. The show is beautifully shot and looks radiant in HD. They went straight from teach me tonight to the Aznavour song. Also a lot of the unscripted patter was not included in this broadcast. Most of what is seen is from the last midnight gypsy performance. However I believe Maybe This Time and NY NY were from the night before. The Palace segment was shown without the introduction that she now gives explaining the Palace run. From what I understand the entire show will be on the dvd. But what was shown last night on HDNET tv will probably be closest to what will be shown on PBS. ( Probably less on PBS since they do pledge drives) . Fun to watch the celebrities in the audience. Loved Kathy Griffin and Barry Manilows facial expressions especially after World Goes round. Also.. for those of you who know me.. that is me in a light blue shirt with a vest right next to Lauren Hutton at the very end. Oh ... and for the voltures circling out there. no dubbing or sweetening was done. That is how she sounded.. Sure some mixing is involved.. but I saw most of this Vegas run and that is how she sounded. I hope you all enjoy. Liza's At The Palace broadcast.. a few thoughts.

Also.. she sings two encores after NY NY which changed every night and were not in any way in last nights broadcast. Also the duet with Billy Strich is not there.I hope some form of that made it onto the dvd. And on a tech note.. Johnny Rogers.. you are such a handsome guy.. but on tv you come off extremely white..almost like Casper. You are still adorable. Just something to make a note off next time you are being made up for tv. Liza will get a Emmy nod for this.

"Liza's at the Palace" on HDNet was beyond fabulous -- Liza in great form vocally, looking gorgeous on-camera and delivering like the once-in-a-lifetime talent she is. Constant standing O's, audience transfixed, all the old magic there in spades. II can't imagine anyone not being as thrilled as I was. Truly a WONDERFUL SHOW!!! I agree.. I think she will be getting a Emmy for this.

HDnet has been running it in 1080p. PBS will run it in 780 ( or something) p. What the hell does all that mean?

Can't wait for it to air on PBS! I didn't realize, but it sounds like it's essentially then the show she took on tour? (which I saw at a tiny casino in Vancouver--talk about glam re: Liza's At The Palace broadcast.. a few thoughts.)

HDNET is listed as one of the co producers and distributors. And they have released their past concerts on Blu Ray.

Miss Liza was on NBC TV's TODAY SHOW this morning (Wed 11/18/09) in an attempt to plug the upcoming DVD release of this concert, and was one helluva mess. Stuttering throughout her entire interview with Al Roker is a simple way to describe it. No words can describe how awkward it got when she stuttered even more trying to respond to his Michael Jackson question. Ouch! Poor gal looked and sounded so much like her mother during her last years. re: Liza's At The Palace broadcast.. a few thoughts.

Brody I love ya hon but I'm gonna have to stop you on this one.

She was fine until the Jackson question. She seemed obviously upset about it. Roker kept pushing the issue, along with showing photos of them together, and Liza obviously is still very upset about losing her friend. He really shouldn't have pushed so much.

She looked fantastic though. Absolutely nothing like Judy in her late years.

Here is the interview. It was actually a very quiet and sweet interview. She could have done with a slight better makeup job. But it was a nice quiet interview. But you know.. some people are going to be bitchy and mean no matter what. Maybe Brody.. it is the way you see things.. which is kind of sad.

I also thought she was just fine in this interview. Can I just say again that the television special is spectacular and not to be missed.

I'm only commenting as I saw it -- twice, actually.

I loves me some Liza Minnelli anytime and anywhere so my intentions on my observation weren't mean-spirited. I'm a huge Garland, Luft and Minnelli fan... so I would never intend on attacking them in any way. Ever.

Again... watching that interview this morning twice, this is how she came across to me.

Nothing more; nothing less.

Well.. that is how you came across. Especially when you use words like "helluva mess" and "ouch". Again..if that is what you saw.. then maybe it is the way you see things? A lot of people watch a Sara Palin interview and think she is nothing short of a goddess.

Brody.. you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I must say your comment reads as if it is someone just trying to be mean and bitchy. And that is just my observation after reading your post twice. Don't worry.. I am sure there will be other bashers posting soon. And Liza will go on to win another Emmy and continue to sell out concerts all over the world. SO bash away...

Let's hope that Liza does get nominated and win an Emmy for the tv special. I hope that it will get noticed by the Academy as PBS specials tend to not get enough coverage come Emmy time.
