* Liza just told me she'll be making a BRIEF appearance on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE this coming Saturday, January 10th, 2009 (11:30 PM - 1 AM, on NBC).

It's just a "walk-on" / walk-through / brief appearance as part of a joke -- GUESSING that it's similar to what Streisand did during the "Like Buttah" appearance in the early 1990s.

Astoundingly, this will be Liza's FIRST appearance on the legendary series. "

It isn't astounding. She has nothing in common with the style of SNL and never sang the kind of music featured on the show.

Additionally, the MAJORITY of the SNL audience would have little interest to no clue who she is.

I'm glad she's not singing. Even a brief appearance as brief as Streisand's could show off her considerable comedic talents, but her singing style would look hopelessly retro (and not in a cool way) on that show, like it did on Rosie's holiday fiasco.

She should be doing more comedy cameos anyway. Dame--tell Liza's people to book her on Ugly Betty...STAT!

They may not CARE, but I suspect it's way off the mark to that the majority of the audience doesn't know who she is.

Liza is one of the most recognizable figures in the USA. She has starred in films ranging all the way back to the 70's, performed numerous times on her mother's variety show before that and (if those are too "antiquated" for today's audiences) was a hysterical reoccurring character on "Arrested Development."

Neal.. i have seen that show in almost every incarnation except for the Palace run. The dates of the run also didn't help.

You are kidding right? Everyone knows who Liza is. She is an American Icon.
