I am headed over to London for a long weekend next week - given the weather this time of year, I'm open to spending more time in a theatre than I typically would when I'm over there. The primary reason for this trip is to see American Psycho, which I will be doing on Friday. Weather permitting I'll go to a football game Saturday afternoon, so that leaves 3, possibly 4 slots for other shows (shout out to Thursday matinees!).
Looking for thoughts from the board - anything I should avoid, anything I definitely need to see? These are the shows I'm looking to narrow down, in no particular order :
- Hercules
- Into the Woods
- High Noon
- Starlight Express
- All My Sons (will this transfer? if it does, is it more likely to be Cranston with a new cast, or Cranston with most/all of the West End cast? Tom Glynn-Carney is also a draw for me)
On previous trips I have seen Stranger Things, Devil Wears Prada (Vanessa Williams was on vacation but TodayTix didn't tell me that - bummer, but I don't feel the need to see it again just to see her), ABBA Voyage, Oliver (don't judge me)....and anything that's running now over there that has been in NYC, I've seen or don't feel the need to. Paddington is sold out at the moment, so that's not an option.

High Noon isn't very good unless you really want to see the two leads onstage.
All My Sons (which I thought was very good) is being filmed for NT Live or NT at Home, so that may be an option if you want to avoid the pricey tickets.
TodayTix is doing a London Theatre Week sale right now and lots of shows have decent discounts. I also find more shows in London allow the TodayTix ticket cancellation for a few quid more.
Into the Woods is very good.

Read good things about
The Unlikely Pilgramage of Harold Fry (new musical)
Arcadia at Old Vic (stoppard)
Fallen Angels at Menier (coward)

I saw on Instagram that the Old Vic is doing a production of Deep Azure, the only play written by Chadwick Boseman, at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. I'd like to check that out if I had the chance.

British friends loved Arcadia, liked Angels and said they slept through Harold Fry.

Starlight Express is extremely worth it! If you can get the cheaper trackside seats, i think those are the beat for a first viewing so you can see the entire show without them racing behind you, causing you to miss anything. Stoppard’s Arcadia is always a good choice too from your list!
