London Theatres Enter Another Lockdown

I feel awful for all those who just re-opened and were hoping to continue through the holidays.

This is why can't have nice things.

Obviously this is awful for those who are no unemployed but I don't have any sympathy with the producers really. This situation was highly predictable way back in the summer. We are in the middle of an influenza pandemic and they have chosen to open shows in the middle of winter flu season after the best part of a year of restrictions constantly changing. Viruses are not predictable so asking for guarantees from the government is unrealistic. Theatre's having to close at some point over the winter could be seen a mile off.

Jordan Catalano said: "London is being told by the government that they don’t need face coverings outside either, so if you look at videos of the streets it’s insane with thousands of people crowding and shopping with no masks. "

Which is sad for the theaters, which overly cautious. The arts always gets the shaft.

The fact that they were allowed to open earlier this month at all, with covid numbers something like three to four times higher than what they were at the height of the first wave back in spring, is complete bizarre to me.
