I think she sounds nice behind all the auto tune.

Posted: 9/16/11 at 2:37pmI don't get why they insist on autotuning good voices to the point where they don't sound human anymore.

Posted: 9/16/11 at 2:37pmShe has a good voice, but yeah the auto tune is distracting. This is Lindsay from THE GLEE PROJECT, correct?

Posted: 9/16/11 at 2:39pmYes, it is her. I guess one of her two episodes will be the season opener. I wonder if she is from Aural Intensity.

I like the ANYTHING GOES/ANYTHING YOU CAN DO mashup...
But that YOU CAN'T STOP THE BEAT orchestration makes me want to vomit. This is a song that is supposed to go 0 to 60 in less than three notes. It's not supposed to be an acoustic first verse with a jolt into the into the first chorus, otherwise it defeats the purpose of it being a natural showstopper...plus Kurt and Artie singing about calling NAACP? WTF?
The only redeeming quality is Amber Riley in the Maybelle part.

Posted: 9/16/11 at 3:08pmSee I though Riley was really low energy during the Maybelle part.

There is supposed to be a school musical sub-plot that has heavily been speculated as West Side Story (I know, didn't Sandy Ryerson and Schuester have Rachel and Tina face off for this?). I am actually fine with that as long as Finn does not get the role of Tony. If you thought the Matt Cavenaugh reaction was harsh...
I wonder if they threw in the Hairspray part because Adam Shenkman is directing another episode?

Posted: 9/16/11 at 4:10pmI heard the musical WILL be West Side Story and Mercedes/Rachel both want to play Maria and I think Kurt tries out for Tony... I do not remember...

Posted: 9/16/11 at 4:44pmi agree! but then i am not really suprised as pretty much everything they do from broadway they either mess up totally and chance it too much. YCSTB DOSE NOT work with that slow pacing at the start. They all sound rather bored with the whole song and have like zero energy. Riley was pretty flat- girl you are coming after Darlene Love, Charlotte Crossley, Mary Bond Davis- you need to bring it. i am just glad they don't have the kids singing 'I Know where I've Been' or "I'm still here"!

Posted: 9/16/11 at 6:01pmI don't really hear any autotune in Lindsay's voice. There's definitely basic post-production echoing, but most of the autotune sounds like it's coming from the backing singers.

If that's Autotune, then they need to fix it. (Not a slam on Lindsay. I like the fact that every note isn't perfect for its entire duration.)
Am I the only one who's really bored with the endless, senseless "mash-ups"?
"Gee, two songs have the word 'anything' in the title! Let's make a medley--oops, sorry, 'mash-up'!"

I thought the You Can't Stop the Beat was rather, well, not good. The slow start just didn't work at all -- I agree with whoever said the song is supposed to start big and go till the end, this one just didn't do it for me.
That said, I figured it was only a matter of time before they threw something from Hairspray on Glee - not only do you have the Adam Shankman connection, but the more obvious Matthew Morrison link (pardon the pun).

Yeesh, why did this not enter my mind?
Blaine is also trying out for the WSS musical, supposedly pitting him and Kurt against each other for the role of Tony.

Anyone feel like doing the Carlton Dance?

Posted: 9/16/11 at 11:19pmThat bastardization of You Can't Stop the Beat was awful! The beginning, Kurt and Artie singing about calling the NAACP, the complete lack of energy in Mercedes' part, it was all terrible. I can understand changing lyrics (even though I hate it) (and I still haven't forgiven them making terrible replacement lyrics for "Everything's Coming Up Roses"), but why change "Seaweed" to "Artie" when you don't change the reference to the NAACP? I mean, really? Did you just miss that lyric?

She's better than Lea Michele IMO.
And, seriously, Rachel and Mercedes want to play Maria? YOU ARE NOT SOPRANOS.

Posted: 9/17/11 at 2:18pm@sporkgoddess I'm trying to prepare myself to what Glee is going to do to West Side Story's songs, especially Maria's. I can't imagine Maria not being songs by a soprano.

Do people just have to talk about Glee and Auto Tune in the same sentance now for no reason anymore?
I don't hear any auto tune on her voice at all, i think she sounds great

Parts of their rendition of "Beat" were atrocious! Plus, I really wish they could've thrown Morrison in there somehow.

I think she's too good for Glee, to be honest.
