Lunt-Fontanne Seating Advice

Personally, I'd take front mezz over rear orchestra every time.

I sat Row N center for Finding Neverland and there was NO obstruction at all. I don't even remember if you could barely notice an overhang. Row B front mezzanine is also very good. You will not go wrong either way. :)

I bought 4 Sweeney Todd tix, Mezz Row A (Seat 10,12,14,and 16) and i'm particularly nervous about seat 16. From what I see on 'View from my Seat' the box seats can block the view from Row A Seat 18, and I'm wondering if it's going to be an issue for Seat 16? Any info is greatly appreciated!

From the looks of the above photo, it's a deep theater. Any reason to get rear orchestra over front mezzanine? How far back in the mezzanine is pushing it?

I don’t have tickets to Sweeney yet but as someone who is 5’2” and my Mom is 5’, sometimes the front mezz is not a good option for us due to the metal bar. Some theatres don’t have this issue but I believe the Lunt does. The metal bar when sitting can be right in our sight line. Additionally, if we were to buy further back in the front mezz (like row C for example) we could experience the leaning forward issue which is when the person sitting in the front row of the mezz leans forward the entire show because THEY can’t see due to the metal bar, thus, making everyone behind them do the same since they’re then blocking everyone else’s view by leaning forward (I’ve experienced this more than once unfortunately).

I don’t either, at least in my time frame. I’m willing to splurge for one show on my planned March trip, but I don’t want to do it for seats where it’s tough to see the stage. That’s why I asking how far back I can reasonably go in mezzanine before you’re awfully far away.

OK, people who know the Lunt-Fontanne...

I don't think I want to spend more than $200 on Sweeney Todd tickets. No guarantee the revival will be any good, I'll be seeing it in previews, and my wife is kind of meh about it anyway.

This prices me out of front mezzanine, even mid-week. There are $173.50 tickets in the first few rows of "mid mezzanine," just behind front mezzanine. Are those good seats at the Lunt-Fontanne or should I revisit rear orchestra seats? How important is it to be in the center of the theater? How much of a problem is this whole issue of the metal bar and people hunching over. My wife is 5'4" while I am 5'9". Does that matter if you're further back, as I am contemplating?

My two cents after looking at every available view is that no seat in the 2 center sections of the rear mezzanine is good. The railings obstruct the first few rows, and then people's heads are problematic further back. The only views that look decent to me are the ones from the aisle seats of the far left and right sections, which would be seat 1 on the left and 2 on the right, probably no closer than row D to avoid the high railing at the back of the front mezzanine. Because the seats are angled there, and not directly behind each other like they are in the center sections, even the seats not on the aisle look pretty good. If you want to guarantee no obstruction, though, you could go for 2 aisle seats, one behind the other.

I bought L 1 for $59. I'll bring binoculars for the distance, but at least I know my view will be totally unobstructed.

So row H in the mezz should be fine? The people at the box office said that would be good because the row ahead is kind of staggered

TaffyDavenport. some of those orchestra seats might work and save money if I decide to go that route. Thanks for pointing those out. What's left at this point are rear orchestra or the middle of the orchestra on far sides.

I don't want to overthink this. If front mezzanine seats at the Lunt-Fontanne are excellent, I don't want to try to get too clever. But the "View From My Seat" critiques have me a little paranoid."

Front mezzanine are excellent only place to sit and prefer row B over A.
