The discussion about the the letter and the double morals is definitely about this show and therefore on topic.
But everyone has been able to share their thoughts about this specific topic about the show, so the proposal of getting back to discussing other details about the show too is fine, but people should be able to share about the show what they want and when things get a little passionate, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just shows that we care. I also think that people who fire a little snark can handle a little snark in return.

Do white people have the opportunity to take over a role in stories where heritage doesn't matter for the storyline?"
Well... according to this show, yes!
Now answer me this; Are white people being profiled, pulled off the street, and sent to **** holes in Florida and El Salvador?

Maybe you should try and read the posts. It's the racism we are against and care about, and we explain why. We prefer equality and long for the same rules for everyone. Unlike some others unfortunately.

And yet... you left off the most important part of the post! Again, you decry that we should be equal but white people are not being pulled off the straights! Interesting!

It's called white privilege Seb. Something that has gone way over your head.

Go to Times Square and speak this out loud. You won't because you are too much of a coward. Nutjob.

It's not actually, you see... you want me to entertain your world view that white people dont get cast in Hamilton is just as big an atrocity as POC being profiled and taken off the street. Because you want it to seem simple. You want it to seem like POC roles being maintained as POC roles somehow exists in a vacuum instead of a response to an industry and a country that has always sidelined them at best and harmed them at worst. Broadway does not exist in a vacuum and I refuse to bend the knee to your racism and stupidity. Was that a good enough answer?

Which of the facts that I mention do you find difficult to understand? I will take the time to explain it to anyone who is seriously interested in the problem. I doubt you are.

No, because this is about Maybe Happy Ending, where the role in question is a robot and not a POC role. Criticism on this casting is sidelining a race. Like I said, what is the goal here and when is the balance warped enough for you so that you will be ready to start accepting equality?

I do, that's why I asked you the question which you don't answer. But thank you for the nice chat. Let's agree to disagree.

My white actor friend who lives in Korea is homeless. He is not welcome in shows there. Unfortunately he does not get all the chances and opportunities for all roles that Asian actors get on Broadway. Thanks for the nice chat and have fun excluding races.

And he's in... Korea... because...? Like... I'm not understanding this? Asian countries are very homogeneous. It is very racist there, yes. So why would he move there knowing his job prospects are not good?
HOWEVER! We are not talking about South Korea and the experiences that those people face there. Unfortunately! Our ability to affect change there is kind of limited between language and distance, but of course you know that and its not about that. Like... Just because LGBT rights are better here than Uganda, doesn't make this country good on LGBT rights especially with recent attempts to scale them back. That also goes to Women's rights. You can always point to somewhere worse, but that doesn't mean we're "good".

? Asian actors on Broadway are US citizens or have permanent work permits, in addition to the fact that it’s near impossible for foreigners to join Equity sans the exchange programs. Is your friend a Korean citizen or perm resident or is he just there because he wanted to? You as visitors are not entitled to work in the same way as citizens. Unfortunate or not, that’s how reciprocity and comity work.
Another point is, does your friend speak fluent Korean? Fluent not only in the sense of being able to read, write and communicate in the language, but to the level of being able to elicit the nuances in the text and add your own interpretations. I lived in Japan for 5 years what I learned, especially from seeing Sondheim shows like Merrily and Pacific Overtures, done in Japanese, is that the translated work is not and should not be treated the same as the original. There’s a lot of reinvention and retooling and you need to relearn the material from scratch. If you want to do English language work, that’s mostly covered by tours.
“And he's in... Korea... because...? Like... I'm not understanding this? Asian countries are very homogeneous. It is very racist there, yes. So why would he move there knowing his job prospects are not good?”
By the same logic, why is any Asian person here in the USA?
And how is anyone to know what the job prospects are unless they’re there, on the ground, trying to work?
“No you're a stupid person who has no idea how the industry works. And that's not an insult. You actually have no idea how the industry works.”
Please tell me what you think I don’t understand about how the industry works.
And why are you talking about what this forum would have done years ago? You just joined at the end of July. And there’s no way someone this opinionated was just lurking all that time.

Because in most cases they were born here and brought here as a young child. South Korea is... 99% South Korean, im wagering this friend is not in South Korea by any reason but his own decision to be. And how would this white actor know about his acting prospects in South Korea? Well... it's 2025. The internet exists... didnt you just learn 2 days ago that South Korea was antisemitic from the internet? He didnt think to research this?

Not sure if this is at all true, but I have seen several different unrelated sources saying that Darren is coming back after ABF's nine weeks are up, and that Helen might depart with her boyfriend at that time. I only mention this because I think it adds to the complexity of how they're marketing (or not, as the case may be), Andrew's run amidst this controversy. I think if they had someone else lined up, they might mention them now to take the heat off their casting of Andrew (presuming the new person was Asian); but if it's Darren, they wouldn't want to say he's returning just yet because then they lose the cachet of these being Darren's "final" weeks. As to Andrew not being promoted, it's pretty clear that unless the producers say he is being replaced, people don't want to hear it. Every single thing MHE posts, related to casting or not, is met with angry comments, so I can see why they're unsure of how to proceed.

Long story about love. And yes, those countries are very racist. They might be the global majority, but they don't have much respect for the minorities. The big question is, should we want to change their countries and why?
It's very nice of Broadway to give the global majority all the advantages there too, let's just be careful to not complain about a white actor taking over a role in a story where heritage doesn't matter for the story at all. Equality is a two-way street.
“and that Helen might depart with her boyfriend at that time.”
If that’s the case, have them put Jordan Tyson or Samantha Williams in as Claire and then let’s see who says what. True colors would show at that time, pun entirely intended.

Should we want to? Yes actually, absolutely. But we can't work on countries in which we do not live, only our own. And if you feel the conditions a minority in an Asian country are facing then you should care about it at home.
Equality is a two way street, correct. But for every advancement towards a minority it's not like you have to "give back" for that. Like when you take a role that got an Asian actor their First Tony for Lead Actor in a Musical and immediately give the role to a white person? It feels like they for some reason they had to "pay it back" for that Tony. Again, if they cast this show diversely from the jump instead of every person but 1 being Asian, you absolutely cast it that way FOR A REASON. That you then went back on.
