Interesting choice. I wonder who they cast.
They decided it was not exactly great timing for The Civil War, which makes sense to me!

Is it EVER great timing for the Civil War musical?? It was a bizarre choice to begin with.
I don’t think their insta comment justification makes a lick of sense though... Replacing a musical about “war and division” with a musical about straight-up murder? Read the room!
It's also about the dangers of... self-medicating? LOL
I was more excited about The Civil War.

Why do this? This show was one of the very worst I have ever seen after a long life and many musicals. Awful, awful.
Does Frank Wildhorn have some kind of hold over them?
When I saw the flyer for The Civil War in the Joseph playbill, I questioned the wisdom of doing that three weeks after an inauguration. Well, this particular one, anyway.

Jekyll and Hyde has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, the Hasselhoff recording in particular. It's every bad 90s musical trope in one show: weird source materials, stunt-cast leads, an overabundance of pseudo-pop power ballads, it's glorious. I don't know how it's going to work if I actually take it seriously
The original Broadway cast was excellent. That's the cast they should have filmed.
I’ll pay to see this only if Deborah Cox is there and sings her version of “A New Life”.
Totally agree
This will certainly be quite interesting to hear about, especially if Yazbeck was still working on Flying Over Sunset (also at Lincoln Center). Is this his first venture as a director?
Jekyll & Hyde includes a few Wildhorn songs I can bear, unlike most of his later work. The only question is, will it be "A Dangerous Game" come next February (is it safe enough?), or is this the moment?
