Madonna Desmond?

Not sure if Madonna would be happy to play someone her own age, although the part is really juicy, so you never know
On another note I always though Madonna would be perfect for Velma, not just on screen but on stage as well

Wasn't Madonna set for Velma and Goldie Hawn as Roxie in the first film treatments in Chicago and Tom Hanks and also Rosie ODonnell as Morton??
I would've wanted THAT version.
And I really think Madonna would be great at this.
To me, she gave Eva Peron a human/softer side that we never saw because we were too busy getting yelled at for 2 hours by Patti's version.
Madonna definitely demonstrated a vulnerability for Eva that was never portrayed before.

^madonna was attached to the project until Nicholas Hytner came onboard and fired Goldie, replacing her with Charlize Theron. Madonna balked - and I'm sure the constant delays on the project didn't help - and dropped out.
Coincidentally, in what I think is the best of the What-If Madonna stories, she met with Bob Fosse about his idea for a film of CHICAGO in 1987. He had just had an ide how to turn it into a film, met with Madonna about playing Roxie, and then was scheduled to meet with Kander and Ebb the following week, but died before that second meeting.
AND there were talks of Madonna playing Louise opposite Barbra's Rose in GYPSY in the 80s, as well. Barbra backed out, and the production eventually became the TV version with Bette. I still think Barbra would have been better playing Rose then when she was the right age and could still sing the hell out of it.

There's a story that when they were casting the Phantom movie he suggested Patti Lupone for Carlotta and someone else said "but Patti HATES you..." and Webber responded with "oh right, well there IS that."

No Jordan stuff can stay up on IMDB for ages.
I rarely pay any attention to that site, the Scream 4 page was hysterical when it was going in to production, everybody and her aunt was listed to be in that film.

I think the woman has stopped caring about every little rumour by now.

Actually Madonna IS Norma Desmond. Madonna was and is always captivating in her music videos which is why people thought she was a natural film actress. Not so much. Madonna "doesn't need words, she HAS faces!" No truer words have ever been spoken.
Madonna is very grand and theatrical and commands with her eyes in a music video, but when she spoke dialogue in films, people laughed and panned her.
I think the vocals could be tweaked so she could sing the score. Throw in Timberlake or Efron and you've got hot box office.

Posted: 5/31/11 at 3:34pmIs Guy Ritchie directing? I bet Madonna will insist on Rupert Everett playing Joe. Betty will be cut completely and all songs will be given to Madonna. Max will be played by some British actor who gives Madge gravitas. And Madonna's handlers are desperately searching for the face lift wig wiring that made Eva Gabor look young. The only question is, what will the "new" song be for Madonna to introduce?

Jordan, she may look incredible, but did you see her on the Oprah special? She looks old.

Madonna is definitely a candidate. Casting teams need to look at international box office when they cast. The reason people scratched their heads at the Travolta/Edna casting was because it seemed out of left field. Travolta is an international icon and star, as is Madonna. Norma can not be played by someone with no marquee value overseas.
I still want Madonna to do the N2N film. Although, Gaga totally has the voice for Diana and would nail the songs. Gaga is only 25 but she looks pretty old, so maybe she could play 40.
