Joe Mantello will direct Roundabout's fall revival of PAL JOEY at Studio 54. Graciela Daniele will choreograph. Richard Greenberg has rewritten the book.

It will begin previews Nov. 21, in advance of a Dec. 11 opening.

The creative team is comprised of musical director Paul Gemignani, Scott Pask (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher (lights), Tony Meola (sound) and Don Sebesky (orchestrations).

As much as I'm excited for this show...it's gonna make like 3 dollars, seriously.

Well, good that Roundabout's doing it then. It's not-for-profit.

Still, it's not fun to see empty houses. I'll be seeing it multiple times, though. I love this show.

I'm sure it'll be less empty than you think, Jake. Especially if they hire some big names, or at least highly respected people in the theatre community.

Between its subscribers and Hiptix, I doubt that this will have very many "empty" houses.

The casting will be the thing that makes me want to see it, or not.

^^ Yup, Pal Joey will always be dependant on who they cast as Joey...I'll see it regardless, but if they get the right guy in the part it really makes the show.

Word on the street is that Christian Hoff is still attached to star.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I LOVE Pal Joey and pray to God that it won't be at Studio 54 -- maybe 1st production at Henry Miller venue? At least, American Airlines. But PPPPLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEEE no more Studio 54!!!!!

Hoff and Channing (Stockard, not Carol) are still attached, I've heard...

I was hoping they would go a more traditional way with casting Vera. But, I can't say I would be upset if Channing was cast.

I guess that give Sunday in the Park plenty of more time to extend because I don't see Roundabout doing a July-September show.

I would still kill to see Hugh Jackman play this role...
but I have no problem with Hoff.

As for hiring Channing...
there are worse things they could do.

Not sure if I'll see this one. Maybe if Cyndi Lauper is still attached for Gladys and if they get a killer Melba. I'm not too into the idea of Channing as Vera, especially when Bernadette Peters and Donna Murphy were attached to the revival at one point or another. Murphy has played the role a number of times, I can only imagine what her "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" must sound like.

Roundabout has a good track record for drawing in big names for their shows, so I don't think that they should have any problem getting someone in the show to fill the uncomfortable seats at Studio 54.

Frogs, I don't think Roundabout has had a July-Sept. show at 54 in a long time. 110 closed in July to make way for Ritz (which incidentally opened in Sept.). But it does seem like they're keeping the road clear for Sunday.

I've heard from a few people the casting rumors for Kathy Marshall's Anything Goes, and they sound unbelievable, if a tad far-fetched.

I'd rather see Andy Karl or Tany Yazbeck in the title role.
