Could soeone comment on her performance as The Old Lady in Sunday. I don't want to read the reviews on here before seeing the show, but am curious how she is. Thoughts?

She's pretty fantastic as the Old Lady, quite similar to Barbara Bryne in the original I thought while still making the role her own. She gets all the laughs and is INCREDIBLY heart-breaking during "Beautiful."
Having said that, her best moment on stage was as Blair Daniels, she NAILS the role in ways that Bryne never did (judging from the DVD and the OBCR). I'm not sure how to elaborate more.
She didn't get an entrance applause on Sunday (as in last Sunday, not the show), actually the only person to get an entrance applause was Jenna Russell, not even Evans did.
I should also mention that she has great chemistry with Evans in both acts and *SPOILERS* this makes her coming out at the end of Act II after Dot one of the most beautiful, touching moments in the revival *END OF SPOILERS*.
She's brilliant, if you ask me. Her Blair Daniels is SPOT ON perfect. She could get a Tony nominations, I think her reviews will be very good.

I have heard all positive things about her.

She's fine. Beautifully textured performance.
I would love to see her get a Nom. It is such a tricky role.
Her "Beautiful" was absolutely heartbreaking.
A stunning performance from start to finish. I would *love* to see her get a Tony Nomination. It's too bad that her "Beautiful" will not be preserved on a cast recording.
I doubt any of the featured performers in the show will get a nod, but if anyone might be in the running it is definitely her (Molaskey will be rightly snubbed).
EDIT: Completely agree with WannaBe about how unfortunate it is we won't get a cast recording with her rendition of "Beautiful."

You should do one of your doodles of the show.

- If Frankenstein and Mermaid are snubbed, Mary Beth will certainly have a chance.
I hope so, Ljay. As much as I think Andrea Martin and Sherie Rene Scott are two great talents of the stage, Mary Beth Piel deserves this nomination. Has Blair Daniels ever made such an impact before? She was just at the top of her game with that role. Then again everything about Act II in the revival seemed to be better than ever.
She was excellent, but she's much older than Barbara Bryne, which to me sharply contrasted with Bryne's much younger appearing Old Lady. I don't know, it just stood out to me.
I think Piel's Blair was stronger than Bryne's. She also looks GREAT in the role.
When does Sunday have it's opening night?
In other years, she'd be nominated. However, this year, I think that category is just too crowded for her to sneak in.
I don't agree. There's BIG chance Frankenstein and Mermaid will be snubbed.
Well, remember there's still SOUTH PACIFIC, CRY-BABY, PASSING STRANGE, GYPSY (with a big chance of two of the featured actresses nabbing a nod), A CATERED AFFAIR, XANADU, and perhaps PAL JOEY to worry about. Not to mention while there is indeed a big chance that YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and THE LITTLE MERMAID are snubbed, Andrea Martin, Sutton Foster, and Sherie Rene Scott are beloved actresses in the community and they might surprise with a nomination.
As I said before, I don't think any featured performer from SUNDAY will be nominated, but it'd be nice if Piel earned some recognition for her great work in the revival.
To echo what everyone said: she's absolutely fantastic. She breaks my heart!
Maybe once we see Piel's reviews, it will be a better indicator.
