Matilda just announced a Standing Room Policy on Facebook!
It is $27, to sold out performances, one hour before the show.

Wish they would have announced this a LONG time ago. They finally did the right thing. Would have been so much easier to just wait a couple of hours once for standing room and get it over with, than waste 40+ hours in commuting time to get severely obstructed lottery seats after my 15th try. I hope they are stamping "obstructed view" on a *large* portion of the side seats in the orchestra, since if you're not in the center section (or close to the aisle on the side section), you're probably going to miss seeing part of the stage.
The next thing they should do is get rid of the gimmick that takes place in the empty space where they ripped out the seats around the 5th/6th row of the orchestra, and move it to the stage. They could add two rows of "super premium" seats and sell them for $300+ a piece. Think of all the extra money that they could make per week.

Posted: 7/11/13 at 10:49amThe theater here is set up pretty much like the theater in London, So I don't think those seats will be returning anytime soon for super premium seating. and I thought the Lottery seats were great. We got row H on the Far Left of the house and could see all but the tiniest part of the back of the stage. I was very happy with the $27 lottery tickets.

Posted: 7/11/13 at 3:38pmI wonder what time people will start lining up for these. Seems like they have a Book of Mormon set up. Here's hoping that it's not as intense as BOM's.

Posted: 7/11/13 at 5:38pmIt was changed. Standing Room now go on sale when the box office opens.

Posted: 7/11/13 at 6:28pmSo people are going to camp out in hopes that it's sold out, but they may be in for a rude awakening. Wow this could become an all day situation if they insist on selling every single ticket like Pippin.

I don't know how soon in advance they've been sold out, but they've reported 100% capacity since the end of April, so it's a pretty safe bet that the standing room tickets will be available for most of the performances in the near future.

Posted: 7/12/13 at 1:24pmI got two tickets SRO for last nights performance. They went on sale directly after the lottery winners purchased their tickets. I believe that there were 21 standing spaces, but I could be wrong.

Posted: 7/12/13 at 1:29pmJust curious how long was the wait? Were their other people waiting for SRO? or is word not out yet. Thanks. Old person here. Don't mind waiting for tickets but don't want to get there at 8 am and find out that the box office will not sell the SRO until after the lottery.

Posted: 7/13/13 at 4:54pmI just wonder why they waited until now to start selling SRO instead of after the show opened back in April??

They are not selling 21 standing room spots. They are only selling thestanding room spots on the left orchestra side of the house.
They waited because, well, there is a lot of activity that happens in the back of the house. They Dec odds to sell the 10 spots on house left, since that area is easier to control. The ushers needed to be blindly familiar with all the activity before they could even think to sell those spots, since they need to know who is supposed to be where.

Can anyone confirm if the SRO tickets go on sale when the box office opens, or an hour before the performance? I'm hoping to do this in the next few weeks. There is conflicting information in the posts here and I haven't been able to find the official policy online.
Thanks!

Posted: 7/15/13 at 5:49pmI got a standing room ticket for this past Saturday evening's performance. I got to the box office at 11:00 am and was told that the show was not yet sold out, but to check back later and I could get a ticket. I was planning on spending all day in Shubert Alley for Broadway Barks, so I went back in every hour or so to check it the show had sold out. When I went at 3:30pm, I was able to purchase the first standing room ticket for the evening performance (behind the left orchestra, slot 3, which is to the left of aisle 3). The rest of the SRO sold out withing 45 minutes of me getting my ticket. There wasn't a line at all.
