Does anyone know how long Matthew Broderick is staying with Nice Work If You Can Get It?
We have a New York trip planned for late April/early May and assume since there is no news on his leaving or a replacement that he is sticking with the show for the foreseeable future, if not til end of current booking period in August.
Does anyone know where you can find anything about planned holidays for leads in Broadway shows as well?
I think he is leaving in April, try to come before then! He is not to be missed.

Beginning of end? We get there April 25 and can't get there earlier.
I had read somewhere that he had unofficially extended through june but have not seen it anywhere else since then. According to the post, replacements had already been secured but again, this is totally unconfirmed. He is most definitely worth seeing in this show, he is really terrific and entertaining.

Hopefully an announcement soon either way as I'm holding off booking the show until i know whether he is in it or not.
Given is almost end of February I would have assumed they would have announced by now if he was to leave in April.
They'll likely wait until they have a signed contract for his replaement.
Matthew Broderick leaving would be the one thing that would get me to buy tickets to the show. Mr. Broderick is a triple threat actor all right- can't act, can't sing, can't dance. If you want to know what his performance is like, if you've seen him in anything in the last 20 years, it's the same character. He only does one.
I really think people should see a performance before they bash it. If you see the show for yourself and are a Broderick fan, you will be very pleased.
I don't know when Broderick is leaving, but in my opinion it wouldn't make much difference. I saw the sow in January with Broderick and I felt that he was the weakest part of the show, otherwise it was a great evening. I am a Broderick fan - my first *Broadway* show was "How to Succeed..." in the early '90s and I have loved M. B> ever since! I was so looking forward to this performance on my recent trip, and while I enjoyed the musical, his acting was so flat it was very distracting.
I do recommend seeing the show, but if Matthew is replaced it will not be a tragedy. O'Hara is truly the star of the show and this is a wonderful role for her.

I am a Broderick fan, but (next to Priscilla) this was by far my least favorite Broadway experience. The show itself wasn't bad,and it has a very dedicated and talented cast, but Matthew was the worst part of the show. His acting was incredibly flat and he can't dance for a second without looking at his feet. I would've much rather seen the show with Will Chase as Jimmy.

I imagine Will Chase will be replacing (probably with Erin Dilly) since Drood is closing. This is just me speculating, I haven't heard anything.

Won't they need to bring in another "star" to keep this show afloat? Its numbers haven't been the best the past couple of weeks.

nasty_khakis, in what universe are you living?
Yeah, Will Chase is going to sell tickets to a STAR driven show (by the way, that's sarcasm, Sheldon!).
Stamos seems the likely choice or Robert Sean Leonard (but even after eight years on HOUSE, I don't think he is a big enough HOUSEhold name to sell tickets).

Stamos would probably be a good choice for this show to be able to last through the summer. However, after seeing Bye Bye Birdie, I'm not sure he can pull it off. Since SMASH is about to be cancelled soon and he's not even in it anymore, adding Chase to this show will be a non factor in terms of ticket sales.
I definitely think Stamos can pull it off (but then again I liked him in Bye Bye Birdie a lot).

I don't know about Matthew Broderick but I know Kelli O'Hara is leaving soon to do Far From Heaven The Musical @ Playwrights Horizons

I believe Matthew is staying until June. He's really great in the production as is the whole cast.
It's a really fun good old fashion musical comedy. If you enjoy that kind of thing you'll love it. Silly Stupid Fun with great songs. Matthew is giving an old fashion star turn and does it well. He almost seems to making fun of himself playing a "young playboy" and it works (at least it did for me).
If you are here while he is in it, you should make sure to catch it.
