re: Minsky's coming to St. James

You may want to put a question mark in the title so you don't get ripped to shreds.

I am seeing it in a few weeks, I am excited!

I have not heard this rumor, do not think there is anything scheduled right now!!! Quote: Say Hello to your Mother for me!!!

I hope this is true. It could be another Drowsy and come in at the end of the season and rack up at the Tony Awards.

Would it open this season? I think Billy Elliot has a lot of it in the bag. And I think "9 to 5" is going to get a lot of noms too.

It's either going into that theater or the Neil Simon, so this wouldn't be that surprising.

Damn Yankees? Have I missed something?

And to quote a BWW article (from Friday) and running over there >>>>>>>, #2

Casting is complete and rehearsals have begun for the world premiere of "Minsky's," which opens February 6, 2009, at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre and continues through March 1 (previews begin January 21).
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I don't know WHY there's *still* talk of DAMN YANKEES...

Anyway, MINSKY'S should be great!

re: Minsky's coming to St. James

The Drowsy Chaperone successfully recouped at the Marquis (1611 seats) in 7 months. If Minsky's (another "oddball"?) is just as brilliant, I don't see why it couldn't have a successful run at the St. James (1623 seats).

re: Minsky's coming to St. James

I love Billy Elliott, but I think when you break it down, the score is hit or miss. If a new Charles Strouse score were to duke it out, my money would be on Strouse. Ditto that for a new Bob Martin script. And Casey Nicolaw production. So yes, color me excited.

These damn Damn Yankees rumors are getting ridiculous. If it was transferring (and it would have to be without Krakowski) we'd have heard something by now.

re: Minsky's coming to St. James

These Damn Yankees "rumors" were started by Krakowski herself on national television.

Sometimes people do shows just to do them and not to win awards.

Best Book, Best Score, Best Featured Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Set Design...I guess that's not exactly racking up, but it ain't too shabby...
