I find the problem with Mirvish subscription is that THEY KEEP CHANGING THEIR LINE UPS. So I don't even care anymore because there's no way to tell if whatever they announce will stick!
And I have seen most of the shows that are rumored to come anyway. I'm very disappointed with Mirvish, they used to be "premier" shows, but lately, all the shows have been seen in other cities for years.

Not everybody can travel to New York or London to see these shows, you know.
Someone on the main board has posted that the San Francisco production of Wicked will be closing on September 5th, 2010. The rumour has always been that the San Fran production would transfer to Toronto. (Although at one point it was thought that the Chicago production could have but it became the 2nd National.) So we can speculate again...late 2010 at the Canon?
Someone from Witches of Oz, a Wicked fansite, apparently heard straight from David Stone that the SF company takes its' bow the 5th as well. I've had a little suspicion for a while now that Wicked is the reason that Mirvish is taking so long to announce the season, what with Dancap having money in it as well. Whether it be the tour coming back here or the SF production transferring, I bet there's something up. Obviously as per the previous Wicked SF-transfer rumour, Caissie Levy won't play Elphaba. However, with Wicked expanding so much internationally recently, especially into Copenhagen, I can't help but wonder if a Canadian production isn't far off. Canon Theatre late 2010? I wouldn't put money on it, but I wouldn't rule it out, either.
"1st rehearsal (Toronto run): Late August 2010, in NYC. 1st preview in Toronto: October 12, 2010 at Princess of Wales Theatre. Twelve-week Toronto engagement. Broadway Opening Night: March 6, 2011 at a Broadway house TBA."
I have heard that if wicked does indeed come as a sitdown, they want it in the princess Not the Cannon.. I think it is smart to put it in the princess as well!
A month makes sense to me. It's been through a few times in the Canon for multi month runs. Any more than a month prob wouldn't sell out completely. "Leave them wanting more."
E2 of yesterday's Star. It was only a little blurb, about 6 inches long. Explains why it wasn't online. It isn't 'official', it was said by 'a source close to the production' that it will run from October 20th to November 28th, which is 6 weeks.
Got an email from Mirvish today inviting me to a press conference next Tuesday at 10 am...I assume it will be the launch of the 2010/2011 season.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
The public generally is not invited. It is for guests of Mirvish and media (radio, Tv, print.) Invitations are sent in advance and you have to RSVP by a certain date.

I'm not sure that this is the press conference for the season announcement. Somebody I met who has close connections with Mirvish who already knows the lineup told me that it comes out on Feb. 22. Plus, eStagers are usually invited for the press conferences. They were for the ROA announcement and last season.
Although I do hope the person I met was wrong because the sooner the better.
Just got this, doesn't sound like the season announcement to me:
Dear Subscriber,
Occasionally we have events that would be considered "insider" or "industry" type. One such event is coming up very soon, and as a means of building a stronger relationship with our core audience, you, our loyal subscribers, I thought you may be interested in being at this event.
The date is imminent - Tuesday February 16, 2010, at 11 AM. The location is the Panasonic Theatre, 651 Yonge Street (just south of Bloor).
We will be announcing what I consider to be one of the most exciting projects we have ever had. The announcement will involve special guests and a video presentation. It will last approximately half an hour, but the news, I'm confident, will delight you.
So, if you happen to be available on Tuesday, join us at 11 AM at the Panasonic and discover firsthand a major project that will soon make Toronto theatrical history.
I saw Little House on The Prairie last night and while I was at the Canon I picked up a brochure for a show called Monkey King that will play from March 10-28.
I checked on the website for the show: monkeykingthemusical.com and the show is currently in Vancouver. It is performed in Chinese with English subtitles and is primarily told through acrobatic dance and martial arts.
Seems like a good show for kids.
They might announce it at the press conference on Tuesday along with the other special project.
So far we know that BILLY will be the cornerstone of the 10/11 season, and two other shows will be GOD OF CARNAGE and FORUM (from Stratford.)
Unconfirmed but expected a return engagement of WICKED, though that may be an add-on and not part of the subscription package since it has already been here twice.
