Is she on pointe? Is the role usually? Does it matter? I hear a lot of mixed negativity about this. The rehearsal was clearly not.

I was doing some web surfing in anticipation of seeing the show this weekend and came across this video and thought I'd share. She seems so humble and down to earth. Glad to see she's given the show a box office boost.
The most surprising thing I learned in this video is that in today's day and age they still only make ballet slippers in one color. She has to put makeup on them or have them dyed.

This is odd. Anyone know why Copeland isn't doing the evening performance?

She doesn't do the Saturday and Sunday evening performances throughout her run. This was her schedule from the beginning

Anyone know if Misty has been coming to the stage door?
My big NY weekend is finally here!

so originally I was told that Fairchild was doing both the Sat. & Sun. evening performances this weekend. But it looks like she's only doing the Sun. evening/final performance. I wonder who's doing tonight's show in place of Copeland??

I saw On the Town for the second time last night. I fell in love with this production when I saw it back in March, so needless to say I was very excited to make a return visit, and I was even more excited to see misty Copeland. The title of this thread says it all... Misty Copeland IS Miss Turnstiles. There's no better way to say it. She is like a feather that just floats across the stage. Her dancing is, obviously, sublime. She makes every move look so effortless and elegant. The Coney Island dream ballet sequence was out of this world and breathtakingly beautiful (even more so than usual). I am so glad I got to see this wonderful production one last time before it closed. The balcony was completely full. I am glad to see this show going out on a high note and playing to good crowds. The audience was very enthusiastic last night.

She's been signing and taking pictures at the stage door, yes.

so sad I can't make it back into NYC this weekend to see this terrific show one more time. If only it was running another week, I'd be able to make it.

Just need to add my voice to chorus of Misty love. Last night was my third time seeing the show and perhaps the most joyful, exciting performance of it I've seen. I had to make a return trip so I could catch Ms. Copeland in the role. I am so glad I did.
As I said, the show was in wonderful shape. The cast is clearly in love with performing the material, so that makes for exciting theatre. Then you add in the absolute radiance of Misty Copeland and you have something truly special on your hands. Her dancing is breathtaking, especially in the Coney Island ballet. It's electric, exciting, sexy, fluid, athletic, emotional, alive. All the things you'd want from a dancer of her renown in this role. And when that orchestra swells to a crescendo and Tony Yazbeck runs to catch her one last time as the lights cut a dramatic silhouette of the two of them... ooh boy. Good luck not leaping from your seat to cheer.
If you're able to catch her one last time tomorrow afternoon, I can't recommend it enough. Misty is worth the trip alone, but she's surrounded by one of the loveliest ensembles working today.

I wasn't planning to see OTT but the enthusiasm people here showed for the show after the closing was announced finally convinced me. I just got out of the matinee and I'm so glad I finally went! The theater was full, the audience was enthusiastic, and the show was wonderful! That Coney Island ballet is extraordinary.

Saw it for the third time last night. The show is perfection, and Misty Copeland was miraculous.

It was hard not to gasp whenever Misty was dancing...she was just breathtaking when I saw it Sat afternoon. Since she does not perform on Sat night or Sun matinees, does anyone know who was playing IVY for those shows before Megan comes back for the final night show?

^^ No you are missing my point. Since Misty does not perform Sat night or Sun matinee, I wondered who performed IVY last night and will perform her for today's matinee. I believe Megan is only here for the last show tonight..

Sorry. I misread your post and thought you said who IS playing Ivy rather than who WAS playing Ivy. She does play Sunday matinees so in the future tense, there is no one else going on except her and Megan. She does not play Saturday nights or Sunday nights according to the website. I don't know who went on last night.

I don't know who performed Ivy last night either. Last Sat. & Sun. evening it was Georgina Pazcoguin.

KathyNYC, Misty will be at the matinee today. She was not doing the Saturday or Sunday evening performances.
