Most Tony nominations for an individual in one season

I recently learned that Michael John LaChiusa was nominated for four 2000 Tony Awards: Best Score and Best Book for both The Wild Party and Marie Christine. Is this a record, or has someone else (as I suspect) received more nominations in another season? (I did try to google it, but this doesn't seem to be a very Google- or AI-friendly question.)

I believe Trey Parker was nominated for 4 for BOOK OF MORMON in 2011 - Book, Score, Musical, and Director

Joshua Logan also accomplished this for South Pacific back in 1949.

David Merrick, in 1968, was nominated for 4 Tonys plus received a special honorary award that year. I'm guessing there are probably some other producers who got 4-5 nominations in a year, but can't think of any for certain.

I don’t think Trey Parker is/was a credited producer. Him and Stone may have given the acceptance speech, but they didn’t actually receive the best musical award.

IBDB says Parker and Stone produced it through their company Important Musicals LLC, so they did get the Tony for Musical.

Susan Stroman also got 4 nominations  in 2000 - 2 for CONTACT and 2 for MUSIC MAN

Elizabeth Swados received 4 nominations for the musical Runaways.  She did not win any awards. 

I have to admit that I did not like the show, and at this point do not remember a single thing about it.  I also don't remember if she was involved with anything else on Broadway after that.

Bob Crowley was nominated 4 times in 2015. Scenic design for SKYLIGHT and AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, as well as costume design for THE AUDIENCE and AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. Out of the 4, he only took home scenic design for AAIP. That nomination was shared with the design studio known as 59 Productions.
