What time does the preshow start? I have can can seats and I dont want to miss up close with Aaron Tveit! First time to NYC this will be my first Broadway show!!!!! Im 54 so Ive waited long enough :)
The doors open at around 30-40 minutes prior. When you enter you will just see some of the performers posed... and as the time goes on a few more go out. They don't do a whole lot more than just sort of pose and stare out to the audience, occasionally changing position.
CONGRATS on your first Broadway Show!!! Mine happened just last year and was The Band’s Visit. Since that trip I’ve made three more and another is scheduled for this coming Wednesday. I’ll be seeing Hadestown for the matinee and Moulin Rouge at 7pm. I plan on being at the theatre at least an hour beforehand so I can give reports on how long the line is and some of the goings-on pre-show and at intermission. If you’re seeing the show later, I can try and get any information you need regarding the pre-show etc. that hasn’t already been answered. Enjoy your trip to NYC!!!
Once the doors open and the audience settles in, actors will start appearing onstage and around various parts of the theater. I was in the mezzanine and was treated to a man, joined later by a woman, in suggestive play. I don't believe the main characters, such as Mr. Tveit, make pre-show appearances. But do not worry. In the can can seats you will get more than ample opportunity to see him up close and personal throughout the show. Have fun!

A few ensemble members are part of the pre-show. None of the principals are part of this which is nothing more than actors just pacing around and doing suggestive posing as the audience is being seated, etc.
