Sorry for the late notice -
Actress Ariana DeBose is a guest on 'The View' this morning, as well as a peformance by the cast of 'Moulin Rouge'. Show airs at 11 am EST on the ABC network. (The show was pre-recorded from last week since they are not their live on the holiday).
Just watched. I am enjoying her interviews. Can't wait to watch West Side Story.

Just watched the Moulin Rouge performance. Natalie has a lovely voice but it isn't particularly strong ( I hesitate to say weak because I don't think that's the right word) especially when compared to Aaron's voice. I've seen the show with both Ashley Loren and Karen Olivo and they seemed to be a better match for Aaron's vocals.

I hope to see this when I return to NYC this summer, but I wasn’t impressed with her performance on the show. He, on the other hand, is superb.
The song landed so much better when they did it on Colbert. Maybe because of the live orchestra and live audience?
But yes, there is something off vocally between Tveit and Mendoza here.

Not to badmouth Natalie at all (I quite liked her in the role at the Hirschfeld), but she took several performances off last week leading up to their performance on The View. Aaron did the whole week, including a two-show day the day before their televised performance.
I truly don't understand how Aaron has been able to maintain such a vocally strong and consistent performance since the show started years ago. His stellar attendance is also tremendously impressive. An absolute professional who I have utmost respect for.

The performance was pre-recorded some time last week, either before or more likely during the run of shows she missed.
Aaron's stamina is out of this world. The role is vocally intense and he makes it sound so easy and never misses aside from when had Covid.
While Your Song is certainly one of the most recognizable songs from the movie and the show, and also the easiest to perform outside the show, it's probably the worst song so show off Natalie's voice. Basically all she does is stand there and harmonize, and really the song is about Aaron. And I feel like Aaron knows better how to deliver that song outside the theatre, maybe because of his experience doing solo shows? I dunno.

When they pre-record a Monday holiday show, it’s usually done on Thursday afternoon. So this was most likely performed live on 2/17 in the afternoon.
This is really astonishing, but the only shows Aaron has missed were covid related. He's obviously made of a very strong constitution.
