"Hollywood is going Musical crazy right now!!"
I am TOTALLY okay with that, as long as it isn't the American Mall and the High School Musical.

My Fair Lady is in the works for 2010, produced by Cameron MacKintosh, screenplay by Emma Thompson, no?

Here's your Elphaba. She'll be starring opposite Amy Adams as Glinda.

Pianolin, I doubt half of those are going to happen. Nobody's heard anything about the ones you put as opening next year.

I thought at the time that when Amy Adams sang What Is This Feeling on her monologue at SNL that she was auditioning for Galinda. Adams and Hathaway really seem like the logical choices at the moment, even though I'm not sure that it is the best possible cast.

Amy Adams said once that she'd love to play Elphaba, and I think she could actually pull off that part. But she'd be much better for Glinda. I hope they cast her, Shirley MacLaine, Robin Williams, and some "unknown" as Elphaba (a Nikki Blonsky "introducing" deal)

Re: Aida
I heard about that like a year ago. Disney wants to do it, with Beyonce in the title role.

"I wonder who they'll get to direct the musical of "Wicked""
Well the rumor now is (and it's more than a rumor actually, although things could easily change between now and then)... Steven Spielberg will direct it.
And I agree with Brody and have been championing Anne Hathaway for Elphaba for a while now.
I do think she'll get it (schedule permitting), and do a fantastic job with it.
Amy Adams would be a great choice for Glinda. She's a little older than Anne (eight years actually), but I still think this combo the best fit for the roles. And she could sing Glinda better than Reece Witherspoon, who has also been interested in doing the film. Reece is six years older than Anne.

This is strange...I guess...but I've always wanted Spielberg to direct a musical film. But my first idea for him would have been "Miss Saigon." Say what you will but I love it (with some sufficient lyric changes) and think between it and Les Mis, it would lend itself much more to the medium.

While I love Anne Hathaway, I think she'd be much better suited for Nessarose than Elphaba.
I think if they cast enough big names around the lead, they can have a relatively unknown Elphaba (like, say, Lea Michele, who would be terrific.)
I was hoping they'd cast younger (still holding out for Kristen Bell as Glinda), but there's no denying Amy Adams would be terrific.
Bette Midler as Morrible, Robin Williams as the Wizard, Lucas Grabeel as Boq (he'd be great)....just find them a decent Fiyero.

As much as I hate the idea, I'll put money on Zac Efron as Fiyero.

If Efron ever wants to be taken as a serious actor and not just some heart throb that will sale tickets, he needs to step away from musicals.
My pick for Fiyero...James Marsden
