Movie or TV Actors you'd like to see on stage (broadway or not)

Curious who you'd like to see on stage that is acting in movies, TV, etc. I'm talking plays here, not musicals... although if you think an actor has a good voice or sings as well, then feel free to say them (although doubt many will be said).

Someone another post about Julia Roberts being on Broadway said you aren't an Actor until you've acted on stage. Well, I don't exactly agree with that, but I understand what they are getting at and I felt that it'd be a cool post idea to have everyone name actors/actresses who they think would be great on stage.

I'll have to think about this... but right now I just will mention my personal favorite actor, Johnny Depp. He's just so amazing, I think he'd be good on any medium, whether it be TV, movie or stage... he's amazing. I'll have to think about other ones and reply a bit later.

I think the statement "you aren't an Actor until you've acted on stage" is true....I would love to see Vanessa Williams back on Broadway...and I would like to see Jessica Simpson in a musical...I think she is great singer...I don't know about an actress....but the scenes I have seen of her leading role in her high school production of "A Chorus Line" were amazing. I also would like to see Christina Milian as Mimi in RENT. And also I wanna see Joan Collins, Liza Minnelli, Kathy Griffin and Jennifer Garner.

^ But Liza has been on Broadway a lot. She's a 3 time Tony winner. And is famous for Roxie stint when she replaced Gwen Verdon for a while.

So are you saying - you wish you saw her on stage? Because she's been on Broadway A LOT.

Joan Collins has done theater, too. I saw her in a production of "Love Letters" just a few years ago.

yes...i know liza and joan have been on Broadway...but they are asking what actor (Broadway or not) you would like to see onstage...that means any actor who is not on Broadway right now.

i'd like to see mel gibson in a play, i'm sure he could do wonders. he's a shakespearian trained actor... so maybe he HAS been on broadway

Just about ANYONE from the cast of Six Feet Under. If that was actually Lauren Ambrose singing in that episode a few weeks ago - and I think I read someone on here said it was - then she NEEDS to do a musical -- soon.

I know that Michael C. Hall did Cabaret also - I've never seen him in anything else, so I'm having a hard time picturing him as the MC, but I'm sure he was great.

I agree about anyone from Six Feet Under-I think Lauren Ambrose actually does the singing herself. And I absolutely ADORE Frances Conroy.

Brittany Murphy actually has a very nice voice and I think she is underrated as an actress. It would be fun to see her in a musical.

And how about Tom Hanks???

Lots of cool ideas flying around...

curious though, who thinks it's true that an actor isn't a true actor unless he's gone on stage. And I guess to be a good actor you'd need to be good on stage.

Who thinks this is true, why?

And curious why people might disagree... just another fuel for some thoughts to go around, might make a post outta it even.

I don't think it necessarily means you're a true actor to act on stage, but I certainly think that it makes you a more well rounded actor.
