Posted: 1/27/08 at 4:36pmI don't know if it would be the opening credits. They might have to make the beginning sequence longer, or if they had an overture in the show, return it to the front of the film because it would be hard to have the actors and actresses faces covered with irritating writing. I guess maybe if it was super indiscrete. I think the father songs would need to be seriously cut down, but it would kind of be a shame not to have any of them in there. I think that if there's ever a way to do a song, they should just do it and avoid the musical fans bitching out that they cut it. Like in Sweeney Todd, even if they cut it for the better they still got bitched at by those who call themselves "die-hard" fans. There's always a way to keep a song in a movie, but too many directors are afraid to ever have the film version seem a bit like the theatre version, which it was at one point.

Posted: 1/27/08 at 5:15pmI don't think that "A Step Too Far" is necessary. It just sums up what you already knew.

I'd love to write the screenplay for AIDA.

It has a plot, it's just super cliche and predictable. The only reason I say every song should be left in is just because most movies could actually make it work pretty well if they just thought more about it. Theatre fans would love that they left it all in, and the film fans who usually don't know when a song is cut or added wouldn't know otherwise, so it could work.
Like most Hairspray movie fans don't know New Girl in Town or Ladies Choice was added, or that Big Doll House and Mama I'm a Big Girl Now was removed.

Posted: 1/28/08 at 6:12pmI hope they were kidding about the Paris Hilton in Aida. That would be disastrous!!!! I think Sherie kicked so much butt in that role! She brought so much power and finesse to the part.

Posted: 1/28/08 at 9:12pmYou think that Aida's plot is predictable? If I hadn't known the opera, I wouldn't have foreseen the two of them buried alive at the end.

I would love to see Patrick Wilson as Radames with Anika Noni Rose as Aida.
If Disney did it I can see it as an ABC tv/movie like they did Annie and Cinderella.

Posted: 7/16/08 at 7:48pmYay! I can't wait for Aida! i hope they end up casting the OBC! I mean, Beyonce? No! She'll be riffing her way through "Easy As Life!" But 2010's a long way ahead. So, maybe Disney'll come to its senses and cast Heather Headley.

I think Christina Aguilera would be wonderful as Amneris...a little too much "Pop diva" but still good
Beyonce i don't see as Aida...and i don't think they would get Hudson to do it. Although, she did win many awards for dreamgirls...
umm...whoever said Johnny Depp as Radimes...no

Posted: 7/17/08 at 2:23amI think that Beyonce would be great solely based on listening and watching her passion during Listen in Dreamgirls. With proper direction, I think she'll do fine. I also think Jake Gyllenhall<--sp? would be good for Radames.

Posted: 7/17/08 at 6:07amThe Aida movie listed on IMDB for 2010 is not a film version of the Broadway Musical. It is an animated version of the opera instead.

Footloose remake? Seriously? Holy Movie Musical, Zac Efron! I call shenanigans on the brilliant minds that came up with that one.
Kevin Bacon is the. only. one.

"If no Adam Pascal for Radames, then they should get Chris Daughtry."
Hmm...Here's my version of the film's song list:
* Every Story Is a Love Story
* The Past Is Another Land
* How I Know You
* My Strongest Suit
* Enchantment Passing Through
* The Dance of the Robe
* Not Me
* Elaborate Lives
* The Gods Love Nubia
* A Step Too Far
* Easy As Life
* Written in the Stars
* I Know the Truth
* Wedding Procession
* Elaborate Lives (Reprise)
* Every Story Is a Love Story (Reprise)

Since the Broadway production not only flopped, but did nothing to improve on the original material, I find the idea of a new Footloose film based on the musical to be as laughably unnecessary as a remake.
I do hope a screen adaptation of Aida greatly improves on the Broadway production, which seemed a well-intended ill-conceived mess. I hope its collaborators find a way to may it all work this time. Great potential, but poor execution.
