Oh, and... Across the Universe. It would probably be a trainwreck but it would be a compelling trainwreck. But I'll only allow it if Dana Fuchs reprises her role from the movie.

THE FAMILY STONE
I LOVE that movie! I know not many people saw it, but it's SO good! I adapted into a play for my church, and if I had a better cast it would have been phenomenal (it was an "I can't act but I want to do it" thing). The story is strong though! The best.
A musical comedy?

I feel like Clueless as a musical would be repetitive of Legally Blonde as a musical, same with Mean Girls.
but I love the idea of Moulin Rouge as a musical.

PERFECT casting for 'Moulin Rouge' Logan!

Thanks!
I just feel like Brescia's voice matches perfectly with Kidman's beautiful breathy soprano in the movie, Hadley has the same vocal quality as Ewan and Gary can capture all the larger-than-life comedy in the Zidler part.

logan0215, I pretty much totally agree with you on Moulin Rouge (LOVE Moulin Rouge so much, and it'd be fantastic on stage), except, if you're gonna do it, why not actually HAVE Ewan McGregor? :P Okay, okay, so I'm a bit of an Ewan fangirl. But seriously, he's absolutely 100% good enough for Broadway I think. It would be cool to see Nicole Kidman do it too, but with Nicole I'd be a liiittle more inclined to think her voice might get a little lost in a big theater.
Basically, I could live with someone else doing Satine, but I REALLY want Ewan on Broadway, and what better for his first time on Broadway than Moulin Rouge!?
(Hadley Fraser WOULD be fantastic though if Ewan couldn't do it *g*)

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

I'll third (fourth?) the Big Fish idea.
I also agree that The Hours would make a fantastic play.
I think that How To Marry a Millionaire would make a splendid musical. Not sure who would be able to pull off the 3 leads, but it with the right cast it would be wonderful.

I love your casting too, logan, but Moulin Rouge will never happen unless they dump the entire film score.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY could afford to license all those songs for a stage production. It's different when it's a single composer's (or band's) catalog. A deal is struck because they're "buying in bulk." The songs in Moulin Rouge are from so many different sources, they could never do it.
Hell, they couldn't license all the old Fanny Brice songs when they did Funny Girl for Broadway either. They had to write "doubles" for the songs they wanted... and then when the film came along (with a big budget) they could afford to license them and did.
Anywho...
There are only a few I'd like to see attempted...
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (expanding on the Bricusse/Newley score).
The Age of Innocence
Fried Green Tomatoes
Amadeus (as a musical)
Eve's Bayou
Citizen Ruth
Gentlemen's Agreement
Sullivan's Travels
My Man Godfrey
Probably a few others too, but that's it.

Yea I figured as much best12...
I think I read somewhere that it took over a year for Baz to secure all the licenses for all the songs.
I wonder if there is any kind of loop-hole of just using small phrases from each song in the "Elephant Love Medley."

Under the Tuscan Sun.
It's sort of a modern version of Do I Hear a Waltz. But the romantic angle is more subtle, and it's more about finding a real family in an unexpected way and place. Plus, it has the perfect character number for a musical; what, 17 total leads and ensemble?
I think the movie is very charming, and as they say, it sings.
