Janney is filming a pilot for ABC with Matthew Perry in LA, so she's not available.

Kristen Johnston is very close friends with Joe Mantello. She has a relationship with Roundabout and similar television notoriety to Mullally, not to mention being absolutely appropriate for the role. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she was in the mix on such short notice.

I find this very unprofessional of hers, breaching her contracts, letting down Roundabout and a bunch of fans that bought tickets to see her in this play, including myself.

Well, the least she could do is issue a statement and tell her fans why she departed the show, or something. I will give her some time though.
Still, Mc Nally says he is devastated, and he was in the rehearsals, so I doubt she was harrassed in front of the rest of the cast and crew, and also why hasn't anyone else departed the show if the actors were harrassed by Mantello?

If she could at all play more than one character she'd be fine. But they need a "name" to replace Mullally and Block (while making a lot of 12 year olds moist) isn't anywhere close to being a "name"

Stephanie has been in Wicked, Pirate Queen, 9 to 5 and Boy From Oz. Isn't that more than one character? Anyway, true she's not a name (yet) and hasn't been in any butter commercials.........

You're right. She did play Liza in one of those shows and the same character in the other three. She's as "versatile" as my last boyfriend.

A great many Roundabout subscribers aren't a) on the message boards b) pay attention to theater gossip c) even know who's in what. I was at a performance of WAITING FOR GODOT last year where a subscriber asked the ticket taker "What do you mean we're not seeing DANCIN'?"

I agree with that. off topic - What do you think of Waiting for Godot? I was just in a theatre festival where they took first prize. Very amazing adapatation of it all.
