How long is her voice meant to last if she keeps pushing like this? You can tell she’s at the edge of her range and peak of her volume, closer to shouting than to singing. At some point it stops being entertainment and turns into watching a kamikaze mission.

Babe, she sounds great. She's at the Muny playing Evita. We're on a message board. I don't she'd be there if she couldn't do it. Can't we celebrate a take that makes us uncomfortable?

She sounds fine.  This is a balls-out, thrilling sound....  Much like the way Patti did it.

I prefer this kind of vocal for this show.

I dunno, I thought it was thrilling. It's Evita - big voice, big presence. But sure, I get the concern. There's a fine line between passionate and reckless.

There was nothing thrilling about this for me. I get that it’s a rehearsal, but to compare this to what Patti did is absurd.  I’m not a Patti fan but Evita is an exception and I’ve  yet to hear or see anyone come close to what she did in Evita.

It’s a one-week run at a heavily amplified outdoor theater. She’ll be fine. 
 

I saw her last summer near the end of her run in the FUNNY GIRL tour and she sounded absolutely fabulous vocally after playing the role on the road for nearly a year. Gave 110% on a random weeknight performance and sounded as fresh at the end as she did at the beginning. Clearly she knows her instrument and how to use it.
