What revivals have had pre-Broadway tryouts?
All I can think of....
Into The Woods
Sweet Charity (2005)
West Side Story (2009)
What else? I am not including London, Encores!, Off-Broadway, or Regional transfers.

The My Fair Lady revival with Richard Chamberlain and Melissa Errico in the late 90's tried out in Chicago - With Errico missing most or all of the Chicago run.
The Tyne Daly "Gypsy" and Topol "Fiddler" revivals from 1989 both toured for a year before they opened on Broadway.
I saw them both in L.A. (with their full Broadway casts) almost a full year before they hit NYC.
Didn't the recent Company revival tryout out of town?
^ I thought that was transferred after a successful regional production.
The revival of Flower Drum Song had their tryout in Los Angeles before going to Broadway as well.
Deaf West's production of Big River started in L.A. as well, but that was more of a "regional transfer," since it was a Deaf West production to begin with.
Flower Drum Song was a tryout, though. They were testing the new book, etc.

The Ashford-directed BRIGADOON was to tryout in Boston last season, but it was "postponed" due to a "lack of a theatre" in NY.
Isn't the current DREAMGIRLS tour Broadway-aimed? Or does that not count yet?

Gosh, why is it that I can vaguely remember a revival trying out in Boston? I'm probably getting it confused with High Fidelity which wasn't a revival, but heck, it tried out in Boston.

PETER PAN opened at the la mirada theatre before touring and heading to broadway.
Hal Prince's "Show Boat" tried out in Toronto, also I believe that the 70's revival of "No No Nanette" tried out in Boston. Oh, and the 50's "Pal Joey" tried out in New Haven.
The Ahmanson in L.A. had "The Drowsy Chaperone", "9 to 5" and "Curtains". Mark Taper Forum had "13". The Old Globe in San Diego had "Damn Yankees", "Times They Are A-Changin'", Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, "Imaginary Friends","Oldest Living Confederate Widow" w/Ellen Burstyn, "Play On", "The Full Monty" and "Into the Woods". La Jolla Playhouse had "Tommy", "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" w/Matthew Broderick and "Thoughly Modern Millie"
^ Oy. I was asking for revivals only. But thanks.
Yeah, it clearly says REVIVALS.
Yes!! Damn you for giving us more knowledgeable information than we needed!!!
The Chamberlain/Errico MY FAIR LADY also had a tryout in DC. I saw it there, as well as the pre-Broadway tryout of the 90s GREASE revival with Rose O'Donnell.
A CHORUS LINE tried out in San Francisco in 2006.
The recent Company revival was a regional transfer from the Cleveland Playhouse.
I believe the revival of MAN OF LA MANCHA with Brian Stokes Mitchell played Washington D.C. before opening in New York.

"The recent Company revival was a regional transfer from the Cleveland Playhouse."
It was a transfer from Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, not the Cleveland Playhouse.
In the 70's NO, NO, NANETTE, IRENE and GOOD NEWS all had out of town tryouts.
Oh, those theatres in Ohio are all the same.
The 1999 B'way revival of CHARLIE BROWN tried out in Chicago (actually, Skokie).
The HOW TO SUCCEED with Broderick and LA MANCHA with Raul Julia and Sheena Easton played DC first. At the Kennedy Center and National, respectively.
