Where have you been these past two days? :P
just haven't been online that much...
does anyone have a video of the performance this morning by any chance?
Do you know if there is a video anywhere of the two because I missed the show?
I have it on my TiVo, but its a pain to transfer.
i understand, i'll just keep checkin around
I really wasn't that crazy about this morning's performances. They just weren't that great. Especially that girl. She was trying to do her thing with the song, but it just didn't work. But, Rent is a hard score to sing. Also, anybody think Frenchie still holds a bit of a grudge toward American Idol? I just got that vibe when she was asked about it.

I picked up on a little bit of a Frenchie grudge too. I actually liked the girl better than the guy, but I agree that neither of them were that great.
i'm looking forward to Thursday and Friday for Hairspray and Avenue Q!
I missed this morning's performances and I'm sad...wonder if they'll end up on youtube or something. Need to turn my alarm on high or I'll sleep through them the next four days...Yay for CBS and their fun idea for this segment.
Cheers,
Christopher

Thoughts on this morning's contestants? I thought Sean from Northwestern who sang "All I Care About" was awesome.

yea. he was great! the girl was pretty good too. the first set of people kind of dissapointed me, but i'll definitley continue to watch. I'm excited for the "Hairspray" and "Avenue Q" day. How do you guys think the people were?
wow! i didn't hear about this at all! thanx for posting! i'll tvo it!
Sean was def. the best performer so far. he was fantastic....the others made me quite happy, if they are some of the best musical theatre students then I suppose I am too :)
I don't mean that insulting...so don't hate. LOL

haha. i agree. sean was great but the rest were mediocore at best.
I thought that Sean was really great. The song fit perfectly in his range, he had charisma and was really entertaining to watch.
I'm biased because I go to school with Kate so I thought she did a really great job. I wasn't sure about her as Velma...I've always seen her as a Maureen type of person, so when they cast her to do "Chicago" I questioned how she'd do but I thought she did her thing and sounded really good. Enjoyed the subtle eye movements etc. a la Fosse. Tomorrow's performances are from " The Wedding Singer" followed by "Hairspray" and "Ave Q"
Cheers,
Christopher
I didn't want to start a new thread, but Katherine (performing tomorrow) went to my high school, and the girl is amazingly talented, and helarious to boot. You should all watch...and vote for her :)
Actually, I'm disagreeing. I think the guy today did quite well. He had a really pure tone to his voice and did great with that awful song. Let's be honest, that song doesn't allow anyone to show off any range. The guy (Billy Flynn) yesterday did amazing as well. As for the girls, yesterday's girl who sang 'All That Jazz' was absolutely amazing. She had real stage presence, diversity to her voice, and completely blew me away. I'm working with a woman who sounds very similar to her and she doing very well for herself. Can't wait to see the performers tomorrow.

i agree that the guy today that sang from the wedding singer was great. he had a great voice that still shined through that song that didn't much allow it. the girl yesterday that sang "all that jazz" was not very good however. she could belt high, but so can everyone else. she didn't sell the song. it's dissapointing to know they call these kids "the best!"
the girl that did the wedding singer today was even worse. Did she forget her words? I don't know the song. I felt bad for her though because from what they showed of her audition she looked really good. She seemed really dissapointed in herself..

any clips of this? How does the show work? Is it just the singers and a piano?
I respect everyone's opinion linkster but I'll say the one thing that I think sets some of these girls apart from the Broadway performers is that their belt is healthy. There are so many "screechers" out there and its nice to see young performers whose belt is a really great voice as opposed to a scream.
Kate and I have worked in three shows together and she can belt to the rafters but she does it in a healthy way. She's got an extremely unique voice, one that I've never heard anyone else ever sound like. It's very distinct. Kate's performance was not one that should right now be on the Ambassador stage next to Charlotte D'Amboise, but each of these students are developing as artists, and I feel she did really well. I thought Sean Carrol from Northwestern was wonderful. His song fit him perfectly and it was an entertaining performance. Such is the role of Billy Flynn too so it meshed well for him. I was happy to see him do so well.
I think there's been one guy and one girl out of the six so far that I've questioned how they were the best in their program, that being today's girl who sang "Get Out of the Dumpster" and Monday's guy who performed "What You Own". The next two days are going to be really interesting.
Cheers,
Christopher
