The voiceover didn't just have stupid lines; the voice itself isn't right for this movie. The "voice of God" style is used ironically in comedy trailers, but why would you put it here? It reminds me of the godawful and completely misplaced voiceover for the Wallace and Grommit movie trailer, which was not only lacking in irony but completely American, which you don't want for a thoroughly English film.

Plum, you put how I felt about the voice it perfectly.

And actually, the art of the movie trailer is quite fascinating.

*has a sick love for various forms of entertainment*

LOVE the new footage (even though, on my very fast and efficient computer, its very fuzzy), HATE the voice, and am very annoyed at this limited release thing (I live in CHICAGO... how is limited release not coming there? I mean, East Coast and West Coast deserve it... but what about the middle of the country? Can't there be a major city playing RENT there? PLEASE?). *le sigh*

i was so excited for new footage, i didn't even pay attention to the voice at first. It is kind of annoying, but whatever, I love the new scenes.

The Tango Maureen dance sequence. awesome looking. Look at Idina rocking out dance steps!

Do you think they will start showing this trailer in American theatres?

Oh my... God. Those new snippets made my excitement even higher than it already is. With every new thing, I'm more and more ready for this.

F*CKing awsome! I loved the fantasy Tango Maureen bits, I read that in the online script and really hoped that they'd keep that in the movie. Beautiful cinametography and just allover incredible. I'll be watching this for the rest of the night now. :-P As some others said though, the only thing that slightly bothered me was the deep, dramatic "Godly" voice. I didn't think it fit with the trailer at all and my opinion is that the trailer would have been better off without any voiceovers but it was still really good.

I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart. -Scrubs

The Apple website will probably have it soon. Meanwhile, I will continue to contemplate the eternal puzzle of why it's beyond both Microsoft and RealMedia to allow non-streaming video.

OMG this made me so happy, I love all the new shots, ahh I'm so excited. I wish they would have used a different song though, there are many many better songs in RENT than Seasons of Love.
