1776 and Follies were both performed without intermission, although Follies tried several different spots in New York previews. And both shows are usually performed with intermissions these days.
Also, Once on this Island, though it was a mere 90 minutes.

I saw "Once on This Island" and it had an intermission, though it was a regional production. It ended Act1 with the song about "mamma knows" (or something like that) and then Act2 started with a reprise of that song.
I find it weird that some people actually put in the intermission, but it does get them money on consessions.

Posted: 7/17/06 at 9:14pmTo be honest, I think Once On This Island works much better with an intermission...

Posted: 7/17/06 at 9:44pmPippin originally, but one was written in at some point. I know I've seen it performed both with and without an intermission (and once the version written without an intermission with an intermission just kind of stuck in randomly.)

"Hairspray Vegas Version
Phantom Vegas Version"
As long as we're saying that, I'll go with Avenue Q Limited Vegas Version, unfortunately with one of the worst act transitions. (if you thought Hairspray was bad, this one actually needed to put a card displaying "Three Weeks Later" on the video screens. How more obvious can you get?!)...

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
