I'm seeing the show this Sunday, and while I was hoping to score a ticket to the food-less Wed matinee I was unsuccessful.

I was wondering if someone could talk about the food service and how it works before the show and during intermission?

They also give you cold borscht in a tiny glass before the show.
Don't go there hungry because you'll leave hungry too.

There is no choice. It's a set menu. Yes, you can buy additional food and drink, but it looks pretty pricy.

Bumping this from forever ago, but I finally got around to seeing NATASHA this afternoon and WOW.

It's hands down the best new musical of last season (and this season thus far), on or off Broadway. I loved the score, which is brought to life by an incredible orchestra. The lyrics are inspired and the songs range from simple and lovely to rollicking and incredibly catchy. And every single song is a gem.

Kazino is a great place for the show; it fits perfectly under the tent and I hope it stays there for as long as possible. It deserves the longest run it can manage! The cast is so very talented, though I admit I wasn't blown away by Lucas Steele. I had a bit of trouble understanding him every now and then; his diction was a bit muddled. Not to say he's untalented, which he isn't. Hands down, best of all, is Phillipa Soo as Natasha. What. A. Talent. This girl is astonishing, truly. I hope she has a long, long career in musical theater and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Director Rachel Chavkin and choreographer Sam Pinkleton work so seamlessly together and so well in the space that at times, the staging alone may get you a little choked up. This is a beautiful, thrilling, innovative, and fantastically unique piece of theater that should not be missed by anyone. I'm just upset at myself for waiting so long to see it.

Sidenote: Ben Brantley was in the audience today, and he seemed to have a blast!

I just noticed on Facebook that Natasha and Pierre are going to start serving a "Russian high tea" at all matinee performances. That sounds like fun!

There is no food/beverage minimum for any price point.

And when I saw the show three weeks ago or so, they had no merchandise.

I finally got to see this for the matinee today....and HOLY WOW! I can't believe it took me this long to see it. I would go back over and over. I would have initially thought that this was something "not for everyone", but each and every person in the room seemed to eat it up. Personally, the mix of style and concept was right up my alley, but I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea. I had heard how wonderful Lucas Steele was, so was disappointed to at first to see Josh Canfield was on, but he delivered (I am still debating whether to wait to buy the physical recording or download it, but was curious as to whether his delivery of "PETERSBURG!" was intended or he was really off). Otherwise, what a great ensemble and band. And Phillipa Soo...holy crap! Well, I could probably say that all around. Her "No One Else" and Brittain Ashford's "Sonia Alone" were standouts as stand-alone songs, but there wasn't a moment when I wasn't 100% "in". (The MC pre-show and during intermission was a riot....hats off to him...."smile and nod"). And the final moments....BOOM!

As to the food and such...I was comped in, but seemed to get the same as everyone else. Got the borscht shot, the pierogies, and the sweets. No vodka. But honestly, the prices weren't awful on the menu and there is a specific matinee menu with "tea" items. Clever.

I really hope this stays longer than its intended run. It is truly great theater and now that it is in midtown, it has some great exposure....and exposure for such a talented cast and team. I'm ready to go see it again. And again. And am resisting the urge to download. The highlights album I think is waste if you have seen it (or even if you haven't). The complete is the only way to go.
